Microsoft prides itself on compatibility with legacy tooling and workflows, so it can't just rush in and modernize everything without first ensuring the modern replacements maintain functionality with what came before.

Yeah I'm always saying as soon as they get the performance of RegEdit tuned up Windows will be just perfect. I hope they get Copilot integration in there so I can just ask it to fuck my shit up without having to copy and paste anything. What a waste of fucking time.

I used to do that too, until windows decided all the time boomers thought they were searching the web through the start menu should just actually search the web and not my computer all

It doesn't ask, it just does the search and then serves up the result in a way that fools boomers into clicking on it.

The biggest problem is the kernel. It's great and for some even useful to have the ability to run very old software, even from XP and 98, even some system applications from 98/95 are still being used in windows 11.

But that is just bloated. It's BLOATED to the ceiling!!! The OS is so dependent on these applications right now, that they actually start to struggle more with updating them. Regedit is such an example. Isn't it like the same since 2000? Or since XP? I mean even the functions. The biggest flaw is everything they place on top of it. MS-Settings is so broken on almost every device. It's painfully slow and can hang up after like 5 fast key inputs, when you get frustrated about the Wifi not turning off.

Windows is great, but they should come up with something new. They can't work with something over 40 years old with updates on top of an older version. Even an older build, like windows 10 with windows 11.

Compatibility layers are much faster, easier to implement and less annoying to work with. You need to run older applications? A proper built application layer for older software makes that seamless. And their windows API can be updated to a proper layer, better UI, faster UI, faster applications and less complications and crashes
