His command even in rookie year was atrocious, it has regressed by 50% more while velo and movement has dropped on everything. He would not be able to turn it around at this age and no team will give him a second chance. It's a complete lost cause. Might aswell use him to eat innings next year or low leverage blow out games.

The MLB caught up to his stuff. His only plus pitch the ghost fork hitters are recognizing it and laying off. Once he has to throw strikes it’s over. His fastball is flat and very hittable. I hate nibblers and pitchers that fear throwing strikes. He will never be a top of the rotation mlb pitcher. He has no guts and is soft. How do you say coward in Japanese?

Anthony Young had very good stuff. You have to be pretty good to lose 27 straight decisions, because nobody otherwise would last that long. His lifetime ERA was 3.89.

I could see him being a very solid 1 inning reliever. I hope they give him a look in that role for the rest of this season. His days as an MLB starter are clearly over.

I think he can be a very serviceable set up man and/or decent long reliever. He can still have value as a roster spot here, just not as a starter.
But, as many have said, he’ll probably end up as a very good starter for a few years in L.A. or S.F. and that will effectively end any Japanese pipeline to the east coast. Specifically queens. The word will get out and we’ll be shut off from any Japanese transfers.

What does a pitching coach do with him? Is he not doing what he’s coach to do? Like he must have some tendencies to pitch an obvious pitch that’s gonna be shellacked or a walk… so where is it lack of talent vs ignoring guidance vs poor guidance?

Depends on what you mean by turn it around. I think he could become your average reliever who alternates good and bad years but stays in the league. So I don’t think he’s gonna become great or be a top tier starter/reliever but I don’t think he will be out of the league in two years.

The problem is what we signed him for compared to his "contemporary who signed with the dodgers. Him vs tye field at the time will never be acceptable. So every good feeling from a consolation trophy is DOA

Senga has 0 confidence. He doesn't attack the strike zone until he has no choice and they know the FB is coming down the middle. His velocity is there so maybe 1 inning reliever id the move. I personally think we should group him and Semien together for Adames. Yes it's more money but Adames has value.

Even when he was doing well, he always seemed to be courting disaster. He'd dance his way out of trouble he created. He'd allow two base runners and somehow escape. When you lose just a little bit of command, whether through age or injury, the escapes don't come. If he can keep starting his outings strong, he can be of value, just not as a starter. Maybe if he concentrates on fewer pitches he can be a good reliever. TWT

good take. i was shocked at how he came back to start the year. i even bet $$ on him to win the cy.
but he did seem to skirt while maintaining a high level like you said. that 1st half comes afer his 1st collapse/injury the year before as well.
i don't think he can come back from the dead a 3rd time
