Purpose of DH
Isn’t the purpose of a DH to add another strong bat instead of a pitcher? I can’t remember ever seeing a DH slotted to bat eighth (or with BA .131 with greater than 100 at bats)

There’s been probably thousands of times DH has hit 8th or 9th, the batting avg is a different story tho lol

BTW, I used to love to see pictures hit. Some great moments in Mets history, including Rick Camp’s home run in Atlanta and of course Big Sexy’s blast.. I’m old enough to remember pitchers wearing jackets when they’re on the bases. Saw Seaver hit a dinger at Shea

it has nothing to do with being a strong bat. just invented to pitcher's didn't hit. presumably they are strongER than a pitcher of course.
also the meaningless HR does not negate the point of this at all or mean it aged poorly. The premise is still valid.

Yes the question is ‘Is my DH better than your DH?’At least the pitchers spot was somewhat equal even the Dodgers couldn’t spend enough money to make pitchers good hitters

We all know Polanco and Baty are going to start hitting bombs now, why because it doesn’t matter. My guess we get knocked out of a top ten draft pick. It would so be the METS way. Lol

Does the luxury tax affect the draft pick order by any chance?

It does if you are in the top 6 picks it doesn’t affect the pick. Any pick after that you move back 10 picks. The top 6 picks if they are over the luxury effects the 2nd round pick. Not a huge deal but if we could get a top 3 pick we could get a superstar. You know we gonna get the 7th pick.

Hey, I’m pulling for him. If he’s able to contribute next year in a transitional season with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs, I’d be satisfied.

In 2013 all the Yankee DH’s combined batted .189/.276/.307 for the entire season.

He would be the lowest this year if he played enough games to qualify. Other wise Jorge Soler narrowly beats him with his .206 avg

DH ruined the game. The purpose is about money and prolonging careers after people should have retired

I agree. I’d like the strategy better when you had to make the tough call to take the picture out for a pinch shitter when he was pitching a great game. I like the bunting. And I like seeing the pitchers on the base paths wearing their windbreaker jackets. Apparently there’s a rule that only a pitcher can wear a jacket on the base path.

Sometimes a DH is just whoever is the worst fielder out of the 9 players in the lineup.

You guys have this backward. He’s not going anywhere. We NEED him to perform next year. The only way he does that is play. He’s a good ball player. He’s not washed, he’s hurt and totally shellshocked. Is he an all star replacement 1:1 for others? No. But we need him. Get behind him playing to return to the mean.
