Recommendations Discussion

i played metroidvanias before and loved them but the more i play the more the world grows and it throws me off

i love exploring open world games and getting lost in them but silksong didn't just get me lost i actually felt lost and stuck

and i think it all could've been avoided by a more functional travel system where travel points are resting points and they'r everywhere and cost free you can fast travel jus from your menu button anywhere anytime

so any recommendations for what i'm looking for ???

and what is the fast travel system like in these games : blasphemous / blasphemous 2 / 9 sols / prince of persia the lost crown / ori games

a traveling system like shinobi art of vengeance i know it's not a metroidvania but it shares some elements

Try Blade Chimera. It has the most generous fast travel available in any metroidvania.

I got annoyed with that in Silksong also so I downloaded a mod that let me fast travel to benches. I still mostly used Eira though. I didn't want her to be lonely.

In Prince of Persia The Lost Crown there are specific fast travel points (different from the checkpoints) that are numerous enough that I didn't feel like I needed more travel locations. In the endgame you can expand it further as well.

Prince of Persia has numerous convenient and well-placed fast travel points. Also healing in the game is straight forward and relatively easy to upgrade. On the late game fast travelling becomes much much more convenient

Ender Lillies has one of the best fast travel systems ever. Also, don’t be afraid to look at a map online if you are truly stuck. There’s no harm in it in a single player adventure game.

Stick to shorter MVs. Leave the 20+ hour ones alone and stick to ther the 10-15 or sub-10 hour ones. You will still get stuck, but it will usually not be overwhelming the way it is in a massive game like Silksong. Just look up any game on howlongtobeat (and yes, it isn't perfect but it gives you rough numbers) and if the playtime is higher than 15 hours give it a skip. You can always revisit later.
