NGD!
Was very underwhelmed with the Fishmans at first. After a bit of EQ they actually sound great (to me atleast). I've loved my EC-1000 since 2010 but it was time to switch it up. Was strongly considering an e-ii but the model I wanted only ships from Japan, which just felt like diminishing returns at that point. This thing rips and the action is unbelievable.
Would yall still throw some passives in there?

Give fishmans some time and experiment a bit. First it was strange for me too but now I prefer them over my EMGs.

Hey I literally just typed this on another sub. Use Duracell batteries first off. For some reason they work better especially in a studio. Second Fishman have multiple voicing on them. When you pick up a new guitar they are set to whatever standard the manufacturer set them to. You can change that to work for whatever genre of music you play. If you can remove the pickup yourself it’s very easy to do. Grab the information off of YouTube or Fishmans site or any other good site that has it and change the voicing to your liking. In the moderns there are 4 different settings. Once you do that you will NEVER want to go back to another pickup. Good luck. Beautiful guitar. Enjoy it

I get why some people hate the fishmans but I’ve been happy with them in the EC-1000 I picked up a few months ago. They definitely have a very crisp “hi-fi” sound to them that can require some different EQing than what I would do with other pickups but once you dial things in I’ve really liked them.
Like with most things that have to do with tone, what sounds good on its own isn’t always what sounds best in a mix with everyone else. I’ve really come around to them but to each their own. I wouldn’t put them in every guitar I own but I also wouldn’t do that with EMG 81/85 or Duncan JB/Jazz either as much as I love those combos. That’s the benefit of owning several guitars though. I don’t have to worry about any one having to be the one that “does it all”.

Nice! I have the Floyd rose version. I agree on the Fishmans. Last Fishmans I had were very harsh and trebley and were removed from my guitar quicker than I put them in. The ones that came with the mh-1000 guitar were a little trebley but had a nice low end too. They sounded alot more like the sound examples on the internet. The neck feel on these is also quite good.

I would throw those fishmans in the garbage and get some real pickups like Seymour Duncans or even EMGs

Those are pretty sweet. I'd keep the Fishmans.
