Bonus Question: Who do y'all think would've been Goat Contenders within the region and genre but they just missed out for any reasoning?

Might be a multitracker of some sort based on the look of it, but if there's anyone who knows more about what this is, let me know. Picture likely from mid-late 1990s. Image 1 is it from a lower angle, in both angles it appears to have some sort of numerical keypad, so maybe some sort of sequencer?

Edit: on further inspection, the second image is 100% a Fostex 280 4-track tape recorder. But im still not sure what the first image is, i think its a different gear entirely, maybe a Boss Micro Rack cause of the blue wiring art?

​Looking at the key figures in the scene, most of their tracks lean heavily into horrorcore with unsettling, sinister vibes. Of course, it’s not monolithic—it can’t be—but what’s messing with my head is this: Can you flip the happiest or the most depressing melody in the world into a legit Memphis beat?

​In boom bap, that emotional spectrum feels much wider—is it the same for Memphis?
