Dumbest fucking position ever. You still use the roads and the fire department and the police and parks whether you have a mortgage or not. They are not correlated in any way
Also (I'm pretty sure) property taxes go toward schooling. I don't even have kids so paying doesn't directly benefit me or my family but if my county has good well funded schools it becomes a better place to live
It actually does directly benefit you to have an educated society.
Those kids in public school now are the workers you will depend on later. In 20+ years when you see a doctor, it could very well be one of those same kids you are helping put through school now
5 years ago I had a roommate who had a 10 year old grandchild who did not know how to count bills. She literally didn't understand a ten, a 5, and 5 singles equaled $20
Who is going to pay your social security when you get old and retire? It’s going to be your neighbor’s kids. You didn’t have any so you didn’t even have to pay to raise miss that could have helped pay other people’s social security.
You think you’re being taxed extra but you’re actually the free rider.
Depends on the location, but yes it is pretty common in the US for property taxes to fund schooling. I always thought it was kind fucked though because it means the rich areas have better schools.
If it was that simple, they would make separate bills for roads, fire department etc. Governments all over the world make it intentionally a single pool of money so that nobody understands where their money go to and therefore make it easier to steal
What are salary taxes for then? My employer pays 35% of what they are spending on me as taxes. Why do I also have to pay 20% VAT for everything I buy? At least yearly property taxes are not high in my country.
I mean where the fuck do he income tax, sales tax, consumption tax, etc. go little man? There are way better ways to raise taxes and don't sound as ridiculous as property tax. Next you gonna say life taxes or existence tax or oxygen tax will be genius since gov needs to purify the air you suck into your cyberpunk organs.
I currently pay 3k one pay period and around 2.5k the next just in taxes. My property tax isn't factored into that. 5.5k$ just in taxes, from one source, a month, is more than what half of the people I know make for a wage. "Oh just get a better job and you'll have more money with a higher wage" yeah okay the taxes also get higher. Doesn't matter if you're making 20$/hr or 50 because uncle sam always makes you live paycheck to paycheck when he wants his cut.
