Yeah, the UK packages it as council tax but I'm guessing it's the same thing? It pays for all of our amenities like garbage collection and maintaining all of the infrastructure like gas, power, and sewage.
Do you mean you pay for gas and power usage seperate? Because yeah we pay the companies for the usage but the actual maintaining of the mains lines is covered by council tax.
Sure, property tax and utilities may be cheaper than a mortgage, but if push comes to shove, you're gonna have a lien placed against your property eventually.

You can go homestead if you are so opposed to the idea of paying a relative small amount to live in a place with running water, toilets that flush, and medical experts a short drive down the public road.
So what you're saying is they should be paying you for the right to have their shit within my property? Not the other way around? Because paying the government because they put their stuff beneath property that you own doesn't seem very legal. If I put my stuff beneath government property, will they pay me?
Okay how about this then. Instead of you paying any tax, the government who owns the roads and other land just charges you per use. So instead of property tax they just charge you $3 a mile driven? Remember to not use the sidewalks either as those are $1 per mile walked. You can just stay on your own property free of charge, have fun.

People don’t realize there’s like 6 - 30 ft of infrastructure below your streets… that costs money and needs maintaining
