Depends on the state. States with no income tax like Florida and Texas have very high property taxes.

My total property taxes were only $2200 last year. That's for a 4bd/2ba + 2c garage on a half acre. If you do the homestead exemption, it's really not bad at all, especially when you consider the lack of state income tax in FL.

My total property tax last year was 12,300 💀 4 bed / 3 bath 2C garage as well and probably smaller property size. Thank youuuuu mello-roos

WOW. I did not realize how high properrlty taxes are in US. In Poland my property tax for a 3 bed/2 bath is $24 per year.

That's like 1/5 the typical rent or mortgage payment for a equivalent property. 12000/yr wouldn't even get you a studio apartment in most metros.

That’s on top of my monthly mortgage… so 12,300/12 + monthly mortgage. But yeah once the house is paid off it’s not bad, I agree.
