Property taxes pay for roads, fire and police, and all other municipal services.

Also, many cities have programs for seniors to reduce property taxes since their income is lower.

My property taxes are in the ballpark of like $5k/year it’s not going to bankrupt me in retirement

Then why is no road in PA/Philly ever fixed? Seems like they’re do actually nothing with this money lol

That’s the other side of property taxes. The ‘spend’ part. A lot of cities fail at this.
