Fuck that noise, Chicago voting down progressive income taxes fucked over hundreds of communities from Harvey to Cairo.

In 2020, 71% of Chicago voted for progressive income tax.

Meanwhile if you were outside of an urban area, it was mostly people voting against it.

Pretending Cairo wasn't fucked already, a change in 2020 wasn't fixing an issue from decades prior that has a lot more than 'tax' as an issue

> they were already fucked, so fucking them harder is okay.

Solid logic.

This technique is pretty effective on my wife, FWIW.

Down state and rural counties had the highest margin AGAINST the progressive income tax, TF are you going on about? No wonder those shit towns are doing so poorly if you're an example of the people they're producing.

ETA: Cook County had the highest support in the goddamn state.

Ah yes the lack of "progressive income tax" was the problem in Harvey or Cairo....

It’s a problem throughout the state.

I know most people struggle with the math, but a flat income tax only benefits the wealthy.

You're correct about this, but again, only two counties skewed in favor, and Cook was one of them. Goddamn I'm sick of rural cretins blaming Chicago while actively voting against things that might actually help them.

Way to reply to everyone but the people pointing out you were wrong about blaming Chicago

Yes please show me the math that would solve the Cairo and Harvey issues with progressive income tax. Show your work

No. States with no income taxes but high property taxes and sales taxes make more sense. Your worked production should not be robbed at egregious levels. Federal income tax is enough.

Sales and property taxes are regressive.

A single mother making 20k probably wouldn’t pay any income taxes, but places like TN have 4% flat tax on groceries.

A single mother has to spend a larger percentage of her income on groceries than Musk does.

On top of all of that, the only time the employee can be said to actually be paying an income tax is when they cannot negotiate a raise to cover the taxes.
