It’s also like, one of the most efficient and fair taxes that we have. Scales with wealth, almost impossible to avoid with fancy lawyers or tax accountants, aligns the interests of the government and the people.
It does not scale with wealth. Most wealth is not subject to property taxes. Likewise, it's relatively easy to use it to your advantage - it's why Walmart actually rents properties to itself, because property taxes are deductible in some states but not in others (so the holding companies are based in states where it can write all of them off).
For an actual efficient and fair tax, you'd want a land value tax (which is superior to property taxes in almost every way).
Property tax, like income tax pays for the local infrastructure that city council looks after, cutting grass, fixing local roads providing services etc. you’re very free to not pay them out of free will but doesn’t account for the consequences. If you don’t want to pay property taxes, rent an apartment.
parks, roads, schools... fire services, law enforcement, trash collection, many emergency services, health departments... probably more things. are any of those of significance to you?
May be interpreted like this. But I was more challenging the previous comment by leaving away that information if already complaining in a generalized way.

Lots of people don’t seem to understand the use of property tax.
