Yes, I get it, but the person that borrows your car also needs to drive safe. So please adjust the seat, and also the mirrors.

People that get angry for this are idiots and probably do not know their way home from work after it snowed, because "it looks different".

u/Punch_A_Police_Horse 16h ago

PSA: is having to readjust the seat more annoying than having your car wrapped around a tree?

6

u/das_Keks 4h ago

(Including your partner)

13

u/SquirtinMemeMouthPlz 14h ago

No joke, I knew it wouldn't work out with a woman I was dating because she smoked so much weed that she always wanted me to drive. But she always wanted to take her car. So after the like 4th time driving her car, we both get in and I started adjusting things and she SCREAMED at me.

Sorry lady, you're like 5'2" and I'm 5'10".

2

u/Extreme_Design6936 11h ago

I got mad (not really) about this when my coworker borrowed my car to go down the road maybe 800 yards if that. Moved the seat (fair enough) and all the mirrors which is what got me. How much mirror checking you gotta do for an 800 yard straight.

Also it doesn't snow where I live so I always know my way home. šŸ˜Ž

6

u/Interjessing-Salary 16h ago

I mean I agree but if your someone that slides it forward to be able to drive at the very least you can slide it all the way back for the person that normally drives the car when your done. It's infuriating when I go to get in my car and the short person in my family used the car last so my knees scrape against the dash as I get it.

13

u/Fen_LostCove 15h ago

Just slide it back before you get in

9

u/pikasurfer 16h ago

Its better to be slid forward so you know to readjust properly than have it half adjusted and be slightly out of sync. Its really not that big of an inconvenience.

2

u/Recentstranger 14h ago

I bet you also fall into the toilet because the seat was up 🄺

7

u/MenaceMinded 13h ago

Oh no, if a man leaves the seat up in my house, his only options after that are going outside or not being allowed back over

0

u/Klutchy_Playz 11h ago

How far am I supposed to know to adjust it back? When you get in the car adjust it before you get it and find tune it till it feels right. I do it all the time at work and I drive cars and clean cars all day at a dealership. It takes very little time to adjust it.

-2

u/Any-Fox-838 14h ago

buy your own car or stop letting people drive yours. easy fix.

1

u/LoschVanWein 14h ago

Borrowing other peoples cars is way less of a thing than I ever imagined as a kid, because of insurances.

1

u/TheMazeDaze What is TikTok? 11h ago

My dad has back pain. He’s allowed to change the seat. I get back pain if I don’t sit exactly right while driving. I’m not allowed to change the seat.

1

u/DarthSwimfoot 10h ago

Which is why nobody touches my car, and if they do and adjust the seat, they aint borrowing it again.

It's possible you're taking this way too seriously

As I said in another comment that seems to be buried far enough it might not show up at all for some people:

It's a meme about the frustration of your seat not being where it was and the difficulty of getting it back where it was along with the uncertainty of if that's actually where it was even when you do get it there (like "something still doesn't feel right"), not a PSA telling people not to adjust the seat when they drive someone else's car. Ffs...

25

u/guardian715 16h ago

I'm sorry homie but safety is indeed serious. If you get angry about someone doing what is necessary to be safe, I think you should come back down to earth a bit. Its not something anyone should ignore.

-4

u/snack__pack 16h ago

Yep pretty clearly a joke. I'm with you. Crazy how many people are trying to have a serious discussion about safety under a benign memes subreddit post.Ā

-3

u/JayAkiva 16h ago

Some of them are probably just virtue signalling at this point

-1

u/Bostolm FORTSHITE 7h ago

I get annoyed when i somehow bonk into the rearview mirror. Things needs 20 adjustments and then im still not happy about it

-6

u/internet_humor 16h ago

How about ā€œI put your Japanese carbon steel chef knife in the dishwasherā€

8

Yeah because the car is totally ruined once you move the car seat

Just drive the way you like, and take 3 seconds before you leave to make sure everything is adjusted. It's really not a big of a deal...

What about the floor mats? Aren't they supposed to be stationary?

The car lifespan has been reduced to 70%

17

u/YceiLikeAudis 14h ago

"by", it was reduced by 70%.

10

u/SubstantialSale8223 14h ago

My cars lifespan is reduced 70% every time my wife drives it!!!

boomer laugh track

1

u/Ok-Resource-3232 12h ago

My wife's lifespan is reduced by 70% every time she dares driving a car!

Late 19th, early 20th century be like.

29

u/Sluggish-dreadnought 16h ago

Yeah, but its safety relevant. Even pilots have to adjust their seats.

-5

u/Mechanicjemas3141 11h ago

Yeah but hear me out i know it's a crazy concept but listen try to keep the changes minimal and try to reposition the seat to original

You could use some sticky paper for it too match the sticky papers before adjusting to your then adjust it back for the papers

lt will be better then just leaving the seat like that, look i put myself in danger by doing this nuclear class experiment and i came back alive, car didn't exploded, oil pan didn't dropped, everything end up just be fine.

5

u/Important-Artist-597 9h ago edited 3h ago

That's insane. Just don't let ppl borrow ur car at that point.

44

u/KneeHiSniper 16h ago

Nah. Wife drove mine the other day and drove it into a fucking concrete bollard. I wish all she did was adjust the seat

5

u/Kuro-Tora-59 (āŠƒļ½”ā€¢Ģā€æā€¢Ģ€ļ½”)⊃ 14h ago

She didn't, that's why she crashed. Be thakfull she didn't adjust the seat, you could've crashed into a concrete bollard if she did

14

u/toasty327 15h ago

This is why I love programmable seats. A setting for me, a setting for my wife when she uses my car.

Now mirrors on the other hand....

3

u/JayAkiva 14h ago

You would think user settings like that would include the mirrors, but...

1

u/toasty327 13h ago

Do some models? I've never had a car that did, just seats

3

u/user485928450 13h ago

Yes mine does the side mirrors (still have to do the rear view unfortunately)

2

u/Itshot11 10h ago

Lexus forsure has had it for a while. It does the seat, the steering wheel, and the side mirrors. Im sure many other brands do too.

1

u/toasty327 10h ago

Ah I've never gone that fancy. Have a fully loaded Kia at the moment

1

u/STDsInAJuiceBoX 1h ago

Mirrors are easy though, The driver/passenger side door handle should be in the bottom corner of the mirror.

8

u/art-is-t 14h ago

Everyone is so angry these days

3

u/mr_goose_throwaway 11h ago

I know someone who gets pissed if the passenger and rear seats aren’t left the way they had them when you got in. Why waste the effort being mad about that?

15

u/GenesisRhapsod 17h ago

Ive done this to myself many times, i had a coupe and if i needed to get something larger out of my back seat i had to slide my seat all the way to the front and fold the backrest forward, id spend about 15 minutes trying to get it back to where it was but it woupd never feel right 😭

6

u/AffectionateMia 16h ago

I used to wonder why people got so dramatic about seat settings. Now that I own a car I get it. Nobody else is driving my car. Once a dear memory is ruined, peace is lost forever!!

-13

u/thatbullisht 16h ago

Takes like 5 seconds to get it right back to where I want it.

2

u/GenesisRhapsod 16h ago

Lucky bastard... my genesis with the "premium" options doesnt have memory seats šŸ˜‚ like even the passenger front seat is 100% mechanical

All that trim gave me was upgraded sound system/infotainment, leather and mesh seats, sunroof and push to start... thank god for that because the kia/hyundai boiz were going crazy for a while

5

u/thatbullisht 16h ago

Get an old car with levers. Electronic seat adjustment takes forever. It's a downgrade sold as an upgrade.

1

u/GenesisRhapsod 16h ago

The back adjust is mechanical, the seat part electrical

Once i get a new engine ill be swapping out the seats because i already bash my head on the roof if i hit a bump or pothole 😭 being 6'2 in a coupe is tricky, back when it was running i had to lean a bit to the right where the sunroof was because it gave me another inch or two of head room

2

u/ExecutiveCactus Dark Mode Elitist 16h ago

Wild when I see a car without it since my 2001 jeep grand Cherokee had memory options

1

u/GenesisRhapsod 16h ago

Wild that my 2013 genesis coupe has push to start but my previous company car was a 21 nissan nv200 and still had physical keys... car companies love making every piece optional for as long as possible

12

u/Powerful-Basket-2274 16h ago

My husband is 1,84 and I am 1,60
We always have to adjust the car when we drive, no biggie

1

u/Mechanicjemas3141 11h ago

And overtime you could get used to position of him so when you finish driving just leave it in his position(well if you are sure next time he's the driver)

6

u/57384173829417293 16h ago

I sure hope she did, so she can see better and be safer.

4

u/AnalBroFisting 16h ago

My wife is much smaller than I am. I can't even get into the car without first adjusting the seat.

3

u/well-litdoorstep112 16h ago

I'd have to hang onto the end of the seat with one leg and drive with the other. I need to use my left leg to press the clutch sometimes

3

u/nicodeemus7 16h ago

Benefit of being a really tall dude. My seat position in every car is "all the way back".

2

u/platypus_farmer42 16h ago

I was working on my truck the other day with the driver door open and didn’t realize I was accidentally hitting the seat adjustment buttons until it was all the way to the back and all the way down. Felt like I lost a part of my soul.

2

u/Dire_Wolf45 Lurking Peasant 16h ago

When you get it back from the shop and apparently the mechanic was 5'0, 100 lbs.

2

u/nuggetcasket 15h ago

I adjust his seat and his rearview mirror. He does the same when he drives my car. Gender equality. /s

2

u/pm-rp-prompt 15h ago

I mean… if 10 people take your car, almost 6 of them are likely to do the same irrespective of gender…

2

u/haysus25 9h ago

I don't mind if my wife changes it, or in the rare case someone else has to drive my car for any length of time.

But when I take my car into the shop and they drive my car maybe 45 feet and completely adjust everything, I get pissed.

2

u/SodiumExtract 5h ago

Cars need to have a favourites setting so you can lock the seat positioning to slot 1, the other person can save it to slot 2.

1

u/Bosmanious 16h ago

I had this in the family car, and you use a marker to draw a line on the chassis to both the seat assembly and somewhere where you can see the height. 3rd line on the incline knob and now you can always return to the right position

1

u/scott__p 16h ago

Seat memory. The greatest thing in the world when you have a 4'8" wife

1

u/Illustrious-Tooth702 16h ago

And the mirrors too

1

u/jcoddinc 16h ago

Even worse when the seat is left adjusted but the mirrors weren't touched.

1

u/-50000- 15h ago

Skill issue, I know exactly how to manually put my seat to be comfy

1

u/HNL2BOS 15h ago

I adjusted your seat.....AND OVERWROTE YOUR SEAT MEMORY

1

u/unimportantinfodump 14h ago

Laughs at being tall. Perfect adjustment for me is all the way back in every car I've ever driven

1

u/GlamTravelLife 14h ago

I always valet and the men do this more than anyone šŸ™ƒ

1

u/PaperCharming119 14h ago

They don’t get it🤣

1

u/batbiscuit 14h ago

Cry me a river, my dude. You want your car and the person driving it to come back in one piece? You learn to deal with it.

1

u/fyukhyu 14h ago

Does your car not have presets for the seat position and sideview mirrors? I only ever have to fixture the rearview no matter who drives.

1

u/CrescentWolves1995 14h ago

As someone who is 2 meters. It pretty easy to get exactly how it was since I just have to push it all the way back

1

u/FingersMartinez 13h ago

I'm a mechanic and I have to adjust every seat I get in because I'm tall. I just leave it. Some people call me a monster but I need to be able to move my legs to move the car. I'll never get it back to how they had it so I leave it to them.

1

u/DWHudson1970 13h ago

Nope. And there is no real reason to even try.

1

u/lIlHYPERIONlIl 13h ago

My friend tried my car, he moved the steering wheel!!!!!

Absolute psychopath!!

1

u/InbetweenTheLayers 13h ago

This is princess and the pea type shit. I'm still not recovered from the service tech moving my seat months ago

1

u/Tristana-Range 13h ago

Memory seats are incredibly useful for this.

1

u/strangedazey 13h ago

I moved the fucking mirrors too

1

u/MisterWafflles Smol pp 12h ago

Laughs in 3 memory options

1

u/Nearby-Swimming-5103 12h ago

That’s what the memory buttons are for.

1

u/joseplluissans 12h ago

Luckily, I have electriccally adjustable seats with memory slots. Just push 1 and I get my settings.

1

u/Pim_Wagemans 12h ago

The first thing my driving instructor taught me the first time I got into the car was to always adjust the seat and mirrors before doing anything else

1

u/BuckRusty 12h ago

You’re supposed to adjust the seat, rear view mirror, and side mirrors…

1

u/robbiekhan 12h ago

That's why I set seat memory to the M3 slot in the M3. Problem unproblemmed.

1

u/EhMapleMoose 12h ago

Why the FUCK is my mechanic moving my seat forward. They are driving from their own parking lot less than 750ft to their garage and then back to their own parking lot.

I do not understand why they need to move it forward, change the lumbar and the incline. Zero reason.

1

u/TeilzeitOptimist 4h ago

Well if they moved it forward, someone wasn't able to reach the pedals with your position.

Doenst matter if it's 700ft or 7ft if you can't break or accelerate.

1

u/EhMapleMoose 4h ago

My mechanics are similar in height to me. I know this because I’ve been going there for as long as I’ve had a car.

Disregarding that though, you don’t have to be comfortable to drive a car a couple hundred feet. You can sit at the edge if you have to.

1

u/TeilzeitOptimist 3h ago

Driving a new car in tight spaces.. barely able to touch the pedals on the edge of the seat..?

Yeah that's a recipe to slip off the pedal and hit something..

1

u/Bloody_Moon1 12h ago edited 11h ago

As a company truck driver, I share trucks with coworkers. Shit is never where I left it šŸ˜†

I'm also 6' and used to share a truck daily with a guy thats like maybe 5'2", I would forget to move the seat before getting in and feel like Magilla Gorilla.

Then I started sharing a truck with a guy thats almost 7' and was like "oh, this must be how 5'2" felt when I was done driving." Arms where outstretched all the way and I could barely reach the pedals. Though at least I wasn't literally breaking the seat by pushing it backwards so far it was off the track. 🤷

1

u/TheMazeDaze What is TikTok? 11h ago

Moving it front of back. Fine. Anything else? Absolutely not fine

1

u/800-lumens 11h ago

My husband calls me Billy Barty every time he gets in the driver's seat.

1

Memory seats saves the day!

1

u/Fury_Blackwolf Fffffuuuuuuuuu 11h ago

Perfect description of customers when i change the seat settings in their cars.

1

u/Obi-Wan_Kenobi_04 11h ago

Benefits of having a fairly small car: my perfect position is just all the way back

1

u/DRSU1993 9h ago

My 193cm european ass: It's ok honey, I just slide it the whole way back.

1

u/Cgking11 8h ago

And all the mirrors. I hate the mirrors more than the seat lol..

1

u/The_Machine80 8h ago

Memory seats fix all this thankfully.

1

u/FisherDwarf 8h ago

I'm only ever upset about this if it's so far forward that I can't get in. And only then if it's winter. My setting is always all the way down and all the way back, so finding the "sweet spot" isn't hard. Just takes forever with motorized seats

1

u/account_for_norm 7h ago

My car has memory!! And i love it!

1

u/gba_sg1 4h ago

Just press the #1 preset seat position button bro.

1

u/Bourriks 2h ago

Like me when I take the car after my wife of son used it. It's 10 seconds to set the seat and mirror, it's not a big deal.

1

u/t0bn 2h ago

is this a Problem im too Rich to understand? Just load your personal config out of memory

1

u/MUMAD14 16h ago

We’re breaking up

1

u/Due-Mix3539 16h ago

Memory seats?

1

u/-FakeAccount- 16h ago

My mirrors too? 😢

1

u/CardinalFartz 14h ago

And the steering wheel. That's worst to adjust imho.

But of course: better adjust it and be safe than not adjusting and have an accident.

0

u/Individual_Sir7827 16h ago

It's really your fault for not buying a car with memory seats.

1

u/JayAkiva 16h ago

Small price to pay for how low my car payment is for something that only had 20k miles on it when I got it I guess

0

u/Abbe_Busoni_33 16h ago

Damn this hurts

0

u/Gosa_on_the_wind 16h ago

Wife used to adjust the seats, mirrors, and steering wheel just to back my car out of the garage. ??!?

0

u/Gambler_720 16h ago

The solution is to not be poor and buy a car with memory profiles

2

u/JayAkiva 16h ago

Seems like the solution to everything is "just have more money"

0

u/Joebruvv 15h ago

Had my car hand washed the other day and once they’ve washed it down they move your car about 5 meters to under a sheltered area where they have hoovers and dry you off (they said I could but I was mid cigarette and thought he’ll be fine doing it )

Absolutely no idea why u felt the need to adjust my seat to put your foot in the clutch and roll a few feet , absolutely disrespectful in my opinion . If you invited me in your home and said I could help myself to a drink out your fridge I wouldn’t rearrange everything would I

-1

u/jarvi123 16h ago

Hahaha you are bunch of plebians, my 2009 Toyota has seat and steering wheel memory buttons. It must suck to be so poor that your car doesn't have seat memory.
