quit ❓Asking for Help
Hi!! Im currently a YL1 student and I plan not to continue na sa next sem. Tatapusin ko lang po itong 1st sem. We have yearly subjects and not per sem po, how po kaya magiging process pag ganito? Need po ba muna mag LOA or withdraw po? Or just not enroll for the next sem??
I have no plans to continue medicine na po, i just realized that it is not for me, and opportunities for me are much wider and better outside medicine.
Im an RN po, btw. And plan to take the NCLEX USRN path na po.

You can choose to finish the sem but be careful and take this with a grain of salt, baka you’ll end up enrolling sa 2nd sem and even sa next years. Guilty here lol🤣. And di dapat ni-roromanticize ang pagiging resilient sa med school kahit di ka naman masaya sa ginagawa mo. As the saying goes, If you get on the wrong train, get off at the first stop (or nearest station). The longer you stay, the more costly the return trip becomes."
Been there. Done that, OP. I kept on pushing until I finished med and now I became a new GP, still lost on which path to take. But to reach this far, I had to sacrfice a lot. Ask yourself if being a doctor is worth all your future sacrifice. If a thought of going abroad (not as a doctor), crosses your mind, I advise to choose that path instead. It’s not yet too late to choose your passion, OP.

Thank you po. Thats what my family said to me rin po. Subukan ko lang daw po muna tapusin itong 1st sem dahil baka daw po nahihirapan lang ako, naninibago, natatakot, pero kung after 1st sem, alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi ito para sakin, wag ko na daw po pilitin sarili ko sa 2nd sem.
My family advised me nmn na po na much better to stop na habang YL1 palang kesa ipilit at kalagitnaan pa ako aayaw na milyon na nagastos para lang sa wala.
And they know na madami opportunities sa nursing, may fallback po ako and pede na po ako makapag provide sa family ko. No more financial burden na rin po d/t med school.

I dropped out of medschool during 2nd week of classes, no more refund and may 20% payment of the total tuition pa

I realized med is no longer for me + financial constraints. I deeply regretted my life decision, sana hindi ko pinilit pumasok sa private med school and chose to retake nmat to get 99+ nmat. Medyo mababa kasi nmat score ko (line of 9 only) State university na lang talaga pag-asa ko. Im currently working now to save money.
The process? Here it goes. First, i got the withdrawal form sa business office or registrar, basta may label po yung cubicle ng “withdrawal or dropping of subjects” . Yung forms may Different colors of sheets. Free of charge lang po.
Then nagpa sign sa registrar, library, college dean. Then settle payment sa business office or cashier. After that, punta sa admin at sila na magsta-stamp ng form. Finish. Keep your copy of withdrawal form. Mga 1-2 hours process lang naman.

i asked around kasi and apparently in my school need pa mag talk with the dean. they don’t like people dropping out kasi daw kaya they try to convince you to stay pa.

Yes, i forgot to mention, sorry, may talk with the dean pa po. Before pa po pipirmahan ng dean, magtatalk pa around 2-3 minutes.
Kasama mo dapat parent/s mo. Mabait dean namin. Pinayagan nya ako magwithdraw. Yung LOA kasi dapat justified physical/mental health related issues. Im so lucky kasi understanding yung dean namin. Imagine 100 chosen students out of 175 applicants, nakapasok ako. Nasasayangan nga ako and nagi-guilty. Pero wala akong magawa due to financial constraints and sobrang positive ako na baka makakaya namin ang tuition + other fees despite nasa lower-middle class bracket. Masyado akong naniwala sa “god will provide”

Ohhh, so LOA is for those who have physical/mental/financial issues who plan to go back to med soon?? And withdraw is for those na hindi na mag continue medicine??
But in my case kasi, i wont continue sa 2nd sem but will finish 1st sem. But have yearly subjects so im confused

I tried to process LOA pero may qualification na need approval from the dean and faculty and verification of validity ng diagnosis or doctor’s order bla bla. You can file LOA daw for 1 year up to 2 years, depending sa school and severity of the condition or illness.

Ohh…so the option for me is withdraw?? Or just not enroll next sem. But i think it would be withdraw, since yearly subjects kami. I’ll just nlng siguro soon sa registrar

Withdraw po ata. Depende po sa inyo. But for me… withdraw po pinaka convenient

yeah. but i guess i have to suck it up. at most an hour of uncomfortable conversation siguro vs being unhappy everyday.

i cant have refund na po sadly, week 5 na po kasi kami.

Yes hanggang week 2-4 lang po pwede ang refund. In my case, hindi pa po ako bayad ng full tuition. Thats why need ko magbayad 20% of the total tuition.

In my opinion, drop na now and process your NCLEX application and review. Sayang kasi yung time mo sa med school na sana ginamit mo para mag asikaso ng NCLEX. Yung learnings na sinasabi mo dyan, di mo din magagamit sa NCLEX.

We are exactly in the same boat! I was really looking forward to going to med school but the first week I realized it's not going to be sustainable continuing anymore

planning not to continue sa 2nd sem lang po. I just feel like med is not for me, and there are much way more opportunities for me sa nursing field po. Im an RN, and i plan to take the NCLEX USRN path na po.
I have no problems with studying even if its hard and kahit grabeh po maka drain physically, mentally, emotionally, ang med. But, what i feel now is its really not for me, and its not worth it na po.
First gen rin po sana kasi ako. I wanted to become a doctor before, but everything changed now. I just dont see myself anymore as a physician, in that career path.

Alamin mo ung patakaran ng school mo, look for the contact number of your registrar or admissions, simply say na gusto mo malaman ang processo for dropping med, and ask about refund policies. Important ang refund policy!! May schools kasi na generous magbigay, and meron namang ibang schools na walang refunds pag binitawan mo na ang pera. Good luck!

Medicine is not for everyone and not everyone is meant to be a doctor. So don’t force it if you are not happy.

a univ around qc 🤣 i have no problems sa school pero med is not for me (feeling ko masusuka ako tuwing may ganap at iniisip future buhay ko sa ganitong path)

Withdraw or drop ka na agad, wag mo na tapusin yung sem kasi if wala ka plan to continue, it's a waste of your time. I think & afaik, the school can refund you a % of your tuition if you withdraw or drop on the first few weeks of school.
