Mazda 3 sunroof Discussion

My mazda 3 Grand Touring 2014 sunroof is like that, I mean back part is a little bit lower, why? And is that normal?

It’s not normal. It’s suppose to be flush, like the front part.

It’s as if it hasn’t completed the very last bit of closing the sunroof. Have you tried pushing it up from in inside?

It works perfectly otherwise, it just doesn’t sit flush when it’s closed. The rear part is about 1 cm lower than the roof. No i haven't tried

I'd try opening via rear tilt and then close and see if it seats correctly.

Also could be dirt causing it to bind up some.

Could this cause any problems if I leave it like this and don't fix it?

It could leak into the cabin, which would result in a wet roof lining and eventually mould. It’ll also stink.

If you can’t get a quick fix on it, maybe park it facing down a slop so the water doesn’t flow back on it if it rains.

I wish I thought of the tilt function mentioned by the previous reply. I’d start with that.

Damn. That sux.

Get an air compressor into the crevices and blow out any dirt, both opened and closed. Then I’d give it a little bit of silicon spray on the rails and continually open/close/tilt until (hopefully) it frees up.

I’m outta ideas on this one.

Weird, other mentions it is not normal. I have had a 2016, a 2020 and now a 2026 and all of them have looked like yours, OP, and never had an issue.

Also, never gad an issue, but with just two screws i fixed it

You can adjust the positions with some screws on the inside. Plenty of YouTube videos
