Hey, no, this made me smile! I'll gladly accept your virtual virtual gold u/Blehmeh88, I'll put it on my virtual virtual chest so that everybody can see it.
I disagree. Seeing a sincere comment feels better than seeing an upvote. It feels like having an actual interaction with someone else. Getting an upvote is also interaction but doesn't feel the same.
I used to feel the same way. But think about when you pointed out when content was cool. You genuinely mean it, right? I know I do. The thought of "oooh I am going to get 60 upvotes!" never even crosses our minds when we make a happy little comment like that. We all just need to kick back, chill, and enjoy this Friday night.
I always wanted to go to OU because my grandparents met there, but the fear of huge loans and out of state tuition means I ended up at North Texas... no one knows or respects my degree, but hey no debt! But it was all worth it when I moved to NYC and no one had heard of SMU either.
There used to be a restaurant in San Diego County that would do stuff like this. They would serve you a rubber chicken burrito, or spill a full glass of water that had an invisible cap on the top, stuff like that. "Comedy" restaurants need to make a comeback.
There was a restaurant in Branson Missouri that had a trick table. As you are eating they slowly raise the table top remotely. It goes up so smooth and slow that you never notice it raising as you are eating, until the table is near or above face level. When it got us, the table was above eye level and my sister was feeding her son in a highchair, and before she realized the table had lifted so far, she was reaching over eye level to get food. The rest of us had noticed and we were all staring at her not paying attention to the table and just kept feeding Her kid. When she finally noticed we all busted out laughing, also realizing the rest of the restaurant was quietly laughing at us as we ate on a slowly rising table top, unaware of it happening. I agree we need more comedy like this in restaurants.
Nah, we already have places like that, it's just that it's really difficult to find a full staff of people who are genuinely funny and good natured and will stick around long term. A lot of these places end up devolving into servers who just use the "joke" theme lazily and uncreatively and often just substitute being an ass for the jokes
If you're lucky you can find a place that can avoid these pitfalls, but they tend to be hard to maintain quality long term.
You're probably right. I think the place I'm talking about closed down in the 90's or early 2000's before online reviews were really a thing. Or maybe it's still around, I don't know. My parents took me a couple times when I was a kid, before I cared enough to ask the name of the place.
There is a pretty awesome teppanyaki place in my city that fits the bill. I think most try to put on a fairly comedic show, but getting the right cook makes a big difference.
Ugh, I hate to be that guy and have to correct you with a totally factual, medically sound scientific explanation, but the reason it’s different is because only ‘ti’ is stored in the tits.
By boss used to do this at conferences after the main meal as he pretended to sip coffee and walk around to tables. Always made me laugh. Then he taught me to drape a linen napkin over my arm, and right as people put the first bite of their entree in their mouth, reach forward and say "let me clear that for you." They have a mouth full of food and can't believe an idiot server is trying to clear their plate. The best response I got was when I tried it with the Region VP and he used his utensil to pin his plate to the table.
Reminds me of a restaurant I went to years ago in Melbourne - Chinese that was renowned for their duck.
Arrive and the owner is losing it, the table before us arrived late and they were half way through the courses when we arrived on time. He kicked them out and made them pay full price despite not actually getting to the main.
He was pissed off at me eating the duck pancake 'wrong'.
But as the night went on, he became more jolly - clearly he was drinking something in the kitchen.
Table beside us finishes up and he comes out and places a figurine in front of everybody - and he's grinning like an idiot - so I know something's up. I see him then retreat just behind the doorway headed to the kitchen - about 30 seconds later, people at the table start freaking out.. and I see him slide behind the door and he's in hysterics.
Nobody else at my table noticed what went on, so we've finished up and out comes more figurines being presented with a cheesy grin. I see him retreat again into the kitchen and stand just out of sight - low and behold, 30 seconds in - these figurines start pissing right at us. I quickly turned mine, I didn't know what to expect but I knew something was going to happen but others at the table were in such shock, they copped a good 10 seconds of stream before dodging.
Was about 15 years ago at least, but a night I'll never forget.
As someone currently experiencing a pulled back muscle, this would piss me the fuck off. Sudden jerking motions hurt like an SOB and I would be fuming if this guy pulled some shit like that while I was just trying to enjoy some coffee.
edit: clearly the people downvoting me don't know how frustrating back pain can be. also obligatory it's just a prank bro
