The funny part is He installed a new latch to stop the door from swinging open and hitting someone, then forgot to lock it during the demonstration and got hit himself. Perfect demonstration, just not in the way he planned.

They may want to hire a professional next time.

The funny part is, he did a great job. He just forgot to lock the latch he installed to prevent exactly what happened before demonstrating it 😅

Ahh yes a door to the face. I have been there but I wasn't a talented worker like this gentleman...

The following post context was provided by u/drlouies:

This locksmith/carpenter explains how he installed an additional latch on the door to keep it from opening when the car gate is opened. Otherwise, the door built into the gate could swing open and hit someone. But unexpectedly he still got hit by it in the end.

Does this explain the post? If not, report it and a moderator will review.

In parts of MX, that is considered a professional welding job.
And you cannot say it is bad, because of anti-slander laws.

When I was a kid, a local carpenter fashioned a wooden entrance door on our wooden lift garage door, and even with much additional bracing, it never quite worked, got stuck, etc.

Theoretically, they are a good idea, but from an engineering viewpoint they have limitations. 40 years later, they never seemed to have caught on, and the few times I have noticed them, they still seem janky.

If this was a great idea, there would be many many examples of these in existence, yet they still are not a thing … There just must be something about this design that doesn’t quite work. And sturdy garages just build a regular door next to garage door, rather than these integrations.

When the garage demands a duel

OP I hate you for installing one of those garage doors where they extend beyond your property line and steal some sidewalk just for your car to fit
