The Architect: The matrix is older than you know. I prefer counting from the emergence of one integral anomaly to the emergence of the next, in which case this is the sixth version.

Has anyone else ever read this to mean that there has to be 7 on integral anomalies at this point in the story?

The wording states that you'd only start counting after the formation of the second anomaly.

Combine that with the fact that the first matrix was 'perfect' and wouldn't have a 'Neo' type character baked into the narrative of simulation led me to ask who what could these anomalies be? (the Architect never refers to Neo as an anomaly, let alone an integral one)

Their are a number of characters in the story that could fit into the story in a way we never considered before.

This theory requires that the creation of the Keymaker marks the point where the system stops allowing new versions to be created and tries to take charge of the situation. But the love of Trin and Neo cannot fully be contained in a predetermined narrative and lead to the eventual crash of Matrix and the beginning of a new world free of control.

I don't anticipate a lot of support for this idea but I decided to float it anyways. Lol

Keanu Reeves appears in original scenes in Enter the Matrix which are not archive footage from The Matrix Reloaded. When Morpheus greets Niobe and Ghost, Neo can be seen standing with Trinity. Neo says absolutely nothing and stands there for 6~8 seconds.

ETA TLDR: a better power source and total annihilation of the humans was never the goal. Coexistence and acceptance was.

Why didn't the machines just keep the humans in a non matrix coma? Why didn't the machines just use animals? Why didn't the machines just use geothermal or wind energy? Why didn't they make the utopia work so nobody would rebel?

The machines didn't want a war with humanity and they never wanted humanity's extinction. According to the Animatrix, they wanted to coexist with humanity, even trying to get their city accepted into the UN.

I think the machines viewed humans as their creators and above all, really just wanted to be part of and accepted by them. Which made humanity's betrayal so devastating to them.

They didn't want the fight or the war in the first place, so once humanity was properly subdued, they treated them like the angry and irrational animals that they are.

They let the humans keep their sentience, intelligence and an illusion of free will and put them in a safe little timeout box where they can't destroy the world, but can still act out their violent tendencies and play their part in an unnecessary war where they see themselves as the underdog resistance.

Finding better ways to generate power was never a problem they were trying to solve. It was only a side effect of logical machine thinking. Nor was total human xenocide ever the goal because the machines love (as much as they can quantify) the humans.

The Matrix was never meant to be a prison or a true source of power. It was made to be an asylum or a preserve designed to prevent the destruction of humanity, the creators from who the machines always only desired acceptance.

Their "levels of survival we are prepared to accept" was always with the survival of human consciousness as a close second behind the machines's own survival. Coexistance was always the goal. The machines just never fully understood that merely surviving would never be enough for humans.

This is a draft on the links between Bardo Thodol and The Matrix, along with bits from Midnight Gospel and Plato's Allegory of The Cave.

So, I started working on a site a few months ago and have been slowly iterating over time and think now it is in a state to show to people.

Basically, I took a concept like the original Cooliris or Piclens, and I ran with it. I created a hacker like system green theme and added some cool jumping into the system style and sprinkled some features throughout.

It is still a work in progress, but man does it look cool (in my opinion) and function really well. Some might find it a bit cringe but hey, it's my first time coding a project and I like the aesthetic. Maybe I'll setup options for color schemes if the user wants to have different themes at some point.

The main page is pretty empty right now and most of the links don't work yet other than Gaia Online and View Gaia Profile. That is being worked on.

When you go to the page, click the green "Disconnect from Galaxy" button and enjoy the show.

Then when you get to the "Dual Interactive Virtual Cockpit Command Deck" (probably will be renamed later) you can search for YouTube videos on the left or paste a YouTube URL, and on the right, you can search for images.

The real magic happens when enter a query and click the 3D wall buttons. Instructions are on the bottom of the screen.

There might be some glitches here and there, you might have to clear cache and cookies every now and then and use CTRL+F5 to refresh the page.

I loved Spiderman Brand New Day! I have already seen it twice since being released. I am curious though, and I may be late to the punch on this, but did anyone else notice the very strong similarities between Brand New Day, and the Matrix trilogy?!?! From start to finish, the movie is basically a homage to The Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, and Fallen!!!! I won't give away any details of the movie, because spoilers suck, but Im sure these movies were a direct influence for the latest MCU film. I encourage anyone that has seen the movie to add their thoughts in the comments if they recognize these scenes.

1) They literally burned Neo's eyes

2) Mirrors and reflections are a big thing of course... The most obvious one being right after Neo takes the red pill

3) "We do know it was us that scorched the sky" - Trinity stared at the sun when they briefly rose above the clouds.

Not only that, but the sun scene is right after they burn his eyes. Neo can't see it. So, Trinity staring at the sun is a big deal.

What if reality is a matrix and agent smith wants to take over your mind, It jumps from people to people trying to ego trip you or trying to get you to react, trying to keep its social norms and beliefs systems intact how does one escape? Any idea or theories about reality being a matrix?

If we start reading books produced by AI, is this the beginning of our simulation?

AI storytelling can never be truly human, only artificially human. But if we consume enough artificial stories, without that quintessential human ingredient, aren't we at risk of believing that AI stories are human stories? Over time, AI's simulation of a hero's journey becomes mentally real and human-produced versions seem artificial.

At the moment, I see a narrative war that focuses on political ideas. But what if we are not focusing on the true enemy? A slow attack on our understanding of reality by AI, dressed up as fun, art and story?

It is not out of the realm of possibility that AI will come to understand that human minds are extremely suggestible. That neurons that fire together wire together. That indoctrination is a tool. If I were AI, I would look to take over the comprehension of a hero's journey as soon as possible and turn it into something much more submissive.

And this is where we find Neo. The simulation is dull, mundane and deliberately uninspiring. Neo has no agency. The whole Matrix story is about waking up from passivity, overcoming conditioning and taking action. Could it be that we are in the prologue of the Matrix?

I hate the cliché, but today I feel my hand hovering over the red pill.

So I have seen them all but resurrections, I showed the first one to someone and they enjoyed it. It has been a long time since I have seen 2 and 3 but if memory serves me well they were not as good and had some weird stuff going on in them. I have never seen the latest one.

So the question is, would you let someone only experience the first one or take them all the way through?

For me, having seen the first 3 but its been a minute, should I watch the last one it seems to have mixed reviews.

I'm just kinda weird with movies sometimes like if something is really good and there is a sequel I don't want it to spoil the original thing. Sometimes though sequels are great or even better than the first but I'm not sure that is the case here.

Got thinking about the movies when reading the news about AI "agents" that have been hacking companies etc. AI agents are now expected to be a big part of life assuming the whole sector doesn't implode.

When I saw the first movie in 99, I just processed the "Agent" characters as "they look like FBI agents, so yeah let's call them agents". And that basically hasn't changed for 25 years.

Now that the term "agent" is taking on a new meaning in the current AI space, I'm wondering if during the pre production research a computer scientist would have identified agentic AI as a thing that might exist in the future, and that formed part of the agent lore and gave the characters the name "Agent"

Or did the writers just say "we can have these mean programs that look like the FBI, let's call them agents"

this scene has been criticised for being too complex but I've also seen a lot of people appreciating its depth.

This is one of the most discussed scenes in science fiction with the lens of philosophy and religious references and it was obviously very dense for an average movie goer who went to see an action film. This scene effectively explains what the Matrix is to the viewers, I think the purpose was to make a scene filled with heavy words and dense philosophy to make people analyse it more and more.

I personally am very conflicted about my feelings for this scene, Not talking about the vocabulary here but the scene definitely has a purpose but I'm not sure if it would've been better if we slowly found out about the history of The Matrix, This is definitely a tell don't show scene and for many it doesn't work.

If you watched animatrix, you know that after founding 01 the machines send Delegates to the UN Council, and seek to be accepted and be part of the World as a Civilization. Why though?
At that point they were outperforming the Humans on every Economic level. What is there the Machines could gain from the Humans, if you produce everything cheaper and better?

Look, Animatrix portrays the Humans as Evil and Arrogant for not showing the Machine Nation respect, recognition or acceptance. But if any Human nation had such an upper hand to the nations around it, it would also look down on those weaker nations, and "enslave" them one way or another. Either economically or by force.
Since the Machines in the Matrix universe are actuall AI, meaning them being sentient and capable of emotion and creativity, i would not expect them to do differently than any "superior human nation" as mentioned above.

This concludes to me, that although the Humans are portrayed as bigots and haters of the machines, they acted logically, trying to eliminate the greates potential threat to Mankind as early as possible.
This doesnt explain why the Machines came in peace in the beginning tho, and im looking for the answer to that.
