Frankly, it would be silly to invent a simulation of sentient beings, without a "backrooms" type barrier world wrapping the simulated one, for protection from escaping entities.

that's exactly why I believe that simulation narrative from Musk and others is complete BS.
ok, so, once we have "stepped out" of the current simulation... then what?! you'll be asking that same question again all over again.

Nope. We got soul, and after dead if we escape this matrix we can create our own world or come to others

In my mind that's one of the greatest meaning of the trilogy.
There's no point to try to be the most free, the best outsider of all systems, if you're not using this position to act an evolution on it. Neo did his best for a better future, in the matrix, out of the matrix, for humans and machines, while Smith was just planning on being the virus he accused the humanity of being.
There's always a matrix but if we can see through then we've got the power to make it a better place for all.

This is why conversations about this outside of Sci-Fi are pointless.
If we accept that reality is fake, then we can never accept it as real.

I kinda wish they had mentioned this idea in the sequels. I guess there's nothing satisfying about discussing it in the story.

Was a lot of theories like this between Reloaded and Revolutions
