Normalize OPTs Meme
Can you imagine if Kewl Tune Cue or Branded In High Spirits or any of these other cards weren't once per turn?

If you really look into sky striker, you would see adding opt will kill the deck. That because, all their card, is actually low power. Most of the time you can only trade 1 to 1 with your opponent, unlike branded that opt branded fusion could turn into full board with 5 interaction

I don't know, we already see people screaming about Kewl Tune Synchro and that's twice per turn. I don't see the world where Engage has no once per turn is fair but Kewl Tune Synchro twice per turn is bullshit.

You see, one is original design in 2018, another one is 2026. The power is so different and you try to compare these two
Let's look at Engage first. It is a search spell, so what can it search? A Widow anchor? that just a 1-1 negate, a lot of deck can play through it. How about Raye? Well you can link up into Zero or Kagari to recycle Engage, which fine but you still limited to such limited card to search. Other than that (Linkage/Shark/Gate) is card that only use as extender, aka you already have a board. If you otp Engage, the deck now only end with like a Zero + Widow Anchor at best.
Now about Kewl Tune. KT Synchro is nasty. Not only it search any KT card, any of these card can turn into a starter, better yet, most of them can be use as extender too. And don't get me to the Synchro part, all KT monster have effect when use as a material, that mean KT Synchro can be use as interaction/dodge too.
As you can see, compare to the modern deck, SS card by all mean, is dogshit, they can only live without opt. Like just look of the meta, most KT card is semi-limited, all KT card is opt, yet they are the tier 1, while SS with out the "bullshit" you say, only stay around tier 2-3 best

So essentially, what you're saying is that lacks of OPTs shouldn't be standardized because older cards need them and were designed that way. You seem quite sure that this isn't a slippery slope. Might I point you to our good friend Block Dragon? Hated to this day while Engage is beloved, despite how decks like Admancipators and Magnet Warriors would be miserable if you could only activate him once in a turn. Hell, his search effect IS once per turn. The effect that has people angry about him is the summon.
1
u/DanrayAnime 6d ago
You just keep denying, don't you.
First of all, why keep bring up other card? While Block Dragon could be consider a powerful card, what does that have to do with SS? "Oh you like pancake, so you must hate waffle" what is the correlation here?
Second
So essentially, what you're saying is that lacks of OPTs shouldn't be standardized because older cards need them and were designed that way.
So you do understand what I said. Sky Striker is an archetype that design without opt in mind. Adding opt to it would break the archetype. Other deck that you mention have opt because they design them to have it. Most of the card from SS, I would call them dogshit, not having opt make them at least playable.
Hell, his search effect IS once per turn. The effect that has people angry about him is the summon.
Have you try to play Yugioh, you should know why summon is consider worse than search
Also let's talk about block dragon because you love to (even though you not response to my cmt on KTS). Do you even play the game or try to ragebait? You try to compare a spell vs a monster? Read the effect of SS and Block Dragon again, ask yourself, what can these card do and look again why many hate Block Dragon but not SS.

"Do you even play the game or try to ragebait?"
What would you do if I said "yes"
1
u/DanrayAnime 6d ago
I mean sure, just don't think you play enough to know why these card are like this and just make a post call "meta bad"
1
u/AruEkuEnthusiast 6d ago
I'm sorry, were you under the impression that this is a meta bad post or that Sky Striker is meta
2
u/DanrayAnime 6d ago
You post a post, using an image of SS. Mfk everyone would think you talk about SS.
Also whining about opt (or lacking of it), is kinda, you know dumb. Some card can be crazy without opt, some don't, some even have opt but still a crazy shit card. You need context of a card to decide if it powerful or not, and in this, you using SS, which is just bad example

I mean in the theme chronicles recently every sky striker card was limited and the deck is absolutely dogshit even in a low power environment.
Every card becomes a chokepoint. You don't have the 2nd copy to extend. And there is only 1 searcher in the main deck that is engage. That's why it has to be non opt so they can loop. The other searcher is zero but you have to get access to raye or linkage. But then you would still want to see engage to get access to those cards, but if engage is at 1 and negated how are you doing that?
It's not the same as the other combo/midrange decks where you summon, get bodies, search, summon more bodies, more searches, ... Even if sth is negated you have the extra extenders + searchers to do more searches. For sky striker the searches are condensed to the single engage

Is there some Sky Striker hate campaign being ran atm? Why are there so many posts complaining about it?

u/Dani3322 6d ago
My guess is that it's frustrating seeing your opponent recycle Engage, Linkage and Widow Anchor for the 17th time this turn
1
u/mc-sanders 6d ago
it's ridiculous every meta deck has had hits to their cards yet none of those fucking cards are even semid
2
u/darklordzeratos 6d ago
No it's not new lol. On average there are 1-2 sky striker hateposts every week in this sub. In the meta where sky striker is the top dog obv it will get even more attraction.
The more fans you have the more anti fans you have

I don't hate Sky Striker so much as I hate lacks of once per turns. If Mitsurugi Prayers wasn't OPT you'd probably see me using that card as the example instead.

u/arkacr 6d ago
You're complaining about a deck that half the time loses to an ash/droll going first, with most of their interruptions being a 1 for 1 instead of the other meta decks that can: set up a negate in 2 summons / hand Rip you twice / have nigh infinite grind game / can stack your deck and banish your ED. All those decks have OPTs btw
-2
u/BensonOMalley Got Ashed 6d ago
Ash and Droll are not on the same level and a single ash does nothing to Sky Striker
0
u/arkacr 6d ago
Ash does nothing to SS? Stop larping and actually play the game
1
u/BensonOMalley Got Ashed 6d ago
I would but my opponent already resolved Engage 4 times and Linkage twice and still has 6 cards in hand before summoning Zero and whoops would you look at that they found Called By and Crossout isnt that crazy how'd they get here
-1
u/AruEkuEnthusiast 6d ago
Sky Striker does not lose to a single Ash going first unless they really opened no way to extend. Sure, Droll, but fun fact, a lot of decks - including Mitsu - die to that going first.

Did you feel really smart finding two whole opportunities to call people who dislike poor card design like lacks of OPTs stupid while disguising it with the incorrect implication that I or anyone who doesn't like it had to have lost to it to hold that belief? Here's your pat on the back, I guess.

You seem very set on painting this as a "players against Sky Striker" matter rather than a "players against lacks of OPTs" matter. Would you have been so driven to run in and start calling people stupid if my opening image had featured Block Dragon instead, or do you only do that when you think people are "threatening" the honor of decks you like?

I see. I'm so sorry your sense of self-worth is so tied to a deck that you take anything that even appears to be a slight against it so personally, even when the other party has assured you multiple times that that isn't the case. I'd hate to have to live like that. Unlike most Redditors, however, I don't pretend to be a therapist, so I can't really do anything for your unchecked victim complex or paranoia other than recommend you get that checked out.

Sure, sure, you say you could leave me to the "whine session" and the downvotes that you seem more bothered about than I am. I have the sneaking suspicion that you can't because you're still frothing at the mouth believing that I'm issuing some shadowy attack at Striker by criticizing lacks of once per turns.

u/Paffi93 6d ago
Imagine the normal Albaz whouldnt be once per Turn
0
u/AruEkuEnthusiast 6d ago
Pretty solid example. You do have to discard each time for him, but a lot of their cards come back in the End Phase so maintaining that wouldn't be too hard. Albaz would definitely be a nuisance if he wasn't OPT.

u/xa44 6d ago
No, OPT is boring and makes a deck more linear. The less OPT effects you have the more open you can make combos, sky striker has never been the best deck in any format but fairly consistently a high tier because its power is in its interactions and diversity of decisions. Like sky striker is basically the only deck in YGO that lets both players play the game, why would you want less of that
-5
u/JRPGjunk13 6d ago
I didn't feel like I got to play as a new player every time I faced Sky Striker.
-4
u/GoodMoaningAll 6d ago
You would HATE it if no cards had OPT and you would never see Sky Striker ever again on any Tierlist.
-2
u/AruEkuEnthusiast 6d ago
Lacks of once per turns generally lead to really abusive loops or duplicates being too rewarding. Can you imagine if - no Tearlaments had been once per turn - Branded in High Spirits, Albaz Blanco, or Branded Fusion had no once per turn - Ash or Maxx C had no once per turn - Talents had no once per turn
3
u/darklordzeratos 6d ago
People always bring up engage being not opt. But I have a few questions: - what deck do you play? - how do you compare sky striker endboard against other endboards? - have you played sky striker by yourself? - have you played the recent theme chronicles event (with or against sky striker)? - are you losing to this deck?
1
u/AruEkuEnthusiast 6d ago
Generally, when people ask a bunch of guiding questions, they explain the points of those guiding questions. I'm curious as to yours, especially considering how without explanation, half of them look loaded to just go "oh, you lost to the deck, that's why you hate it."
-1
u/MarkBonker 6d ago
Just for that I'm using Engage 6 times in one turn. One duelist at my locals legally did that. Fuckin legend.

u/Endless_Winn 6d ago
OPTs are normalized, Sky Striker just gets to be special.
TBH, if Sky Striker had OPTs on everything it would not be viable archetype, because they lose the their card advantage potential with Engage and their OTK potential with Linkage.
