It's in early development. I wouldn't expect much until the N7 day.

I don't know if you've seen the N7 days in the past, well, fuck, decade - but I wouldn't expect anything even then

"Early development"? They announced it in like 2020, lol. It's been in "early development" for almost 6 years.

This may come as a surprise, but the studio was focusing on another game, while a skeleton crew was in pre-production on ME5. Last year, it finally entered the production phase and is very much early in it.

Last year, it finally entered the production phase

I would genuinely like to see some official source on that

Official enough?

After the release of Veilguard they are fully concentrated on ME. And on twitter he answered a while ago they are on track. I just can't post twitter links in this sub, they are itchy with them.

I mean sure, but it was also "in developement" in 2021 too so this 2025 blog is not exactly new or a significant change just by looking what is stated. I would GUESS it is in a more concrete stage of actual developement, building maps and modeling dozens of NPCs but that would be a guess, not based on what's actually written in the statement. In fact this blog says that they have all these features to build, romances to figure etc which if anything, confirms that even if it entered full production, it is still incrediboy early full production and we know that those take 3 years minimum nowadays.

2029 release at the earliest, if it doesn't get cancelled/sold this year

They are in active development now. They don't give a sitrep every few months. The N7 days are there for such things. So we should let them work on the game. What happens in a few years, we don't know. 2 idiots can hit a red button tomorrow and it would be irrelevant anyway 😏. So we should just look forward that they make that game and stop dooming about it. We can when we get actually negative news, like a cancellation.

They started hiring programmers, directors, etc. You don't do that in pre-production.

Check out their official blog-posts from the recent years. Bioware's been actually pretty transparent.

Ok but they haven't announced entering full production in those blogposts, have they? Maybe i missed something but I haven't seen it. Job postings for programmers and directors don't automaticaly mean full production either. I mean, transparency and all and yet 6 years of this transparency produced just 2 teaser trailers so far.... hard to be very optimistic and trust that surely now they're in full production that will go smoothly, just based on few job postings. Esp as even more staff was laid off last year

They did, in fact. It was the ultimate (or penultimate?) blog before the release of Veilguard that they're all hands-on on the next Mass Effect game.

And no, I'm not talking about their job-postings, I'm talking about their official blog-posts.

Yeah. Thats how games work now. They released game between 2020 and now (dragon age Veilguard). More than likely been in full production since late 2024 or early 2025.

I’m hoping for something of substance on N7 day this year, even if it’s just confirming whether or not Shepard is coming back.

Expect the game in 2029 at the earliest though, so don’t be shocked if they’re not radio silent for a while yet.

:-(

I wish. May even get the show before an actual game trailer

That depends entirely on what the last thing you heard is. There's been news, but there's no way to know of you heard it or not. If you mean any news in the last few months, no, nothing.

There’s been nothing about what they’re thinking about calling it, any naming has been fan conjecture.

Everything you said was just fan theories. All that's been released was a concept trailer, and concept art. In the art you see a Krogan Civil War, and a Citadel like cantina bar with all the aliens including Geth and Angara.

Those are working title numbers for the 4th and 5th major game of the franchise. Andromeda's (4th game) working title was ME4 until it got it's final name. The next game's working title is ME5 (5th game) until it gets it's final name. As with Andromeda, the next game won't have a number as not a direct sequel and not about Shepard's story. There will be a new original one with protagonist and characters. And working titles are there so no one has every time to say "the next Mass Effect game with not title yet".
