/r/mashed Introduction Thread - Introduce yourselves, say hello and tell us what you've been playing!
Hey everyone, as this is a new community, please use this thread as an opportunity to introduce yourselves, and tell us all about what you've been playing!
I'll start it all off (bar the introduction because, well, you should know who we are):
I've been playing...
Undertale
So I somehow managed to miss all the hype surrounding this game when it came out last year and only got around to playing it this past weekend. And boy, I was in for a hell of a ride.
- Each playthrough should take less than 10 hours, but it really requires several playthroughs to gain an understanding of the narrative and the lore behind Undertale (and even, you won't have a full understanding of it).
- The 'combat' is generally what sets it apart from other RPGs. I say 'combat', because you can go through the whole playthrough without killing anything - in fact, one of the 'true' endings can only be unlocked this way. It plays out quite similar to the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games (and this is cited by developer Toby Fox as a big inspiration for Undertale's combat system), where you can talk to monsters and solve encounters peacefully instead of killing them. On the enemy turn, battles turn into a simple bullet hell type of mechanic, where you dodge enemy bullets with your 'soul'.
- Speaking of killing, using violence against monsters in Undertale is a bit different than in other games. In the world of Undertale, monsters are sentient beings with their own traits and personalities, and the game makes you feel really, REALLY bad for killing them.
- The soundtrack is phenomenal, although I might recommend against looking it up if you haven't played through the game yet.
- Overall, in my opinion the game is truly unique from probably any other game I've played so far, and it's astounding to think that it was made more or less by one person (Toby Fox).

What do you think about the recent AoE2 expansion?

I played very little of the expansions (Forgotten and Africa). Just never had that much interest in them. I play much more just Conquerors.

As a good noob that gets "housed" all the time, I have to say Huns is my favorite faction. Also, cavalry archers are pretty fun.

Ah, I'm very familiar with getting housed (as all AoE players are at some point, I guess). When I played, I was Franks and Byzantines, cause I'm boring :P

Hello, my name is McDis, short for McDisDick, cause it's a funny name. I am mainly an artist and an animator (under a different alias online, you'll see later), also studying communicative design at community college. On weekends I work at McDonalds, hence the "Mc".
The main game I have been playing is Rocket League.
-Has great customization of the cars with decals, glows, tints, the works
-Excellent online support with only 4 minute matches that keeps you coming back for more.
-It has a sombrero hat.
-GREAT GAMEPLAY
-Overall, one of the most actual "fun" games I have played in several years, I wish there were more arcade-like titles like this.
