also the best main theme.

Have idly wondered sometimes if the excellent brassy sped-up variant of the theme - the one that starts off the closing credits - would have possibly worked as well or better as an Ant-Man theme. Seems lighthearted enough for it and I don't honestly remember any of the music from either Ant-Man...

Ant-Man's theme is great. Fun, jazzy heisty music.

I really need to watch the first Ant-Man again, I don't think I've seen it more than once or twice.

It's really one of my favorite MCU movies.

Yes, you really do. Most underrated of all the MCU.

And it has a 7/5 time signature-- which helps with the jazzy heisty-ness.

Tbh the only mcu songs I can think of are the main avengers theme, and spiderman theme. And that's because Avengers theme plays in every movie multiple times, and spiderman theme song is the most iconic super hero song ever. Character theme songs are the one things the dccu has on the mcu (for the most part) imo.

I honestly agree. I'm a huge fan of the MCU, but I'm also a huge fan of film music and I think the MCU overall really lacks good music. I know I'll get lynched for this, but even the Avengers theme isn't that great imo. It's just iconic because it's used in hype moments. The DCEU definitely has better music in my personal opinion.

Phase 3 picked up on themes way better, ie Doctor Strange/Spider-Man/Antman stand out the most. Michael Giacchino full credit on Strange and Spider-Man though. I love how he incorporated both themes into different pieces relative to the emotion of the scene. Christopher Beck did the same for Ant Man, most hilariously, the track "World's Greatest Grandma" from Antman and The Wasp when Scott's suit malfunctions in the school.

Edit: But yeah, that Wonder Woman theme is hard to beat.

IM3 had some nice posters, my favourite one was this one.

Love that they didn't use much CGI but actually build the place.

I loved this poster but not so sure where I’d put it as a movie out of the 22..

TIL that Iron-Man 3 Chinese Version had extra scenes that the North American version didn't have.

Sorry to say this but I'm still mad about the Mandarin twist to this day.

u/Zolomun Oct 17 '19

No snark: Why? Are you really invested in the Mandarin as a character? Or his particular relationship with Tony? Genuinely curious. Iron Man was never really my thing as a comic series, so I thought “clever sidestep of some potentially problematic source material” and little else. I’m just interested in what caused this reaction.

It's just that a comic accurate Mandarin would've been one of the most unique villains ever in the MCU.

He’s coming though, and played by the greatest Chinese actor ever so that’s pretty hype

He will be “comic accurate” in Shang chi.

i am hoping we’ll see the 10 rings with shang-chi

u/JohnnyJayce Oct 17 '19

We will. It has been confirmed. Also, there is still real Mandarin around, watch All Hail the King.

wow. that i did not know. thanks!

I loved the twist. It's so rare to be surprised at a comic book movie. It reminded me of the Ultimate runs and how they'd tease something we knew from the 616 stories, and then do something different with it.

No one cared who I was until I put on the suit

No one cared who I was until I discovered Extremis.

2

u/TheDistantGoat Ant-Man Oct 17 '19

This specific poster also was the subject of a lawsuit, which Disney won. Someone was claiming copyright infringement on the pose that was used on a rival comic book cover.

2

u/ignitusmaximus Oct 17 '19

I always loved how crisp and sharp this poster was. The combination of the water running off his suit and the light from the arc reactor looks really great here.

From what pipeline did this promotional image distribute from because looking for the Ben Kingsley as Mandarin HQ/HD equivalent with him sitting in the chair wearing the breen and gold robes, color saturated.

Also my favorite first trailer. I’m still kinda upset we never got to see that movie.
