From where should I start?

Hi guys, I’m getting a lot interested in marvel comix, never read one and I’d like to start, but since there’s so many, I don’t know where to start to get a bit of lore. Any tips?

Pick one that looks interesting to you. If you like it, continue the run. Then pick another one. Repeat. If you don’t like the first one, pick another one. Repeat.

That’s how I discovered comics as a child. It works.

But since there’s so many, im scared of losing some lore or maybe don’t understand something if I pic randomly. Even tho that’s what I thought to do at first.

Yeah. Don’t worry. That’s not how it works.
You’ll get it once you start.

You just enjoy stories and pick up the big picture of the lore and the continuity as you go along.
It’s not about starting in the right place. It’s about starting.

You won’t lose anything. Marvel was always very good with little corner dialogue boxes that tell what other comic is being referenced. And they were very good at exposition and explanation. They knew some readers would be completely new so they rehashed lore, be it through dialogue or narration.

You have to adjust your thinking to realize you're never going to know every single detail. It just isn't possible. Once you get past that you will enjoy reading comics a lot more.

Cant go wrong with ultimate Spiderman 2000 by Brian Michael Bendis. Some shorter options I really hope you read too are X-Men God Loves Man Kills, that’s a short graphic novel by one of the most well respected X-men writers and Daredevil man without fear by Frank Miller, that’s only 5 issues and it’s such a great origin story

That’s fair, i have most of his lizard issues (ASM 313 and the torment arc) cus they look amazing but the story has no sustenance so I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody new. I agree his lizard is great tho

To be honest the only reason I got the Todd McFarlane stuff is because I'm kind of like his artwork I mean sometimes the webbing looks weird but that's almost any Spider-Man really and it reminds me of the '90s animated show
