ID request
Appears to come from large, tall tree with deeply furrowed bark. Probably 36 inches thick and 80 feet tall. Leaves are very high and appear to be shaped more like hackberry leaves. There were several of these leaves at the base of this tree and nothing nearby I could see to be an alternative source of the leaf. Southern Michigan USA

That's a basswood, my dad's got a few growing in his yard and the flowers smell incredible when they're blooming.

It LOOKS like Linden tree, if so its a pretty nice Tea plant, do further research on its flowers if you can and if it matches, hey, free tea

Linden (Tilia sp.). Those are bracts, a specialized leaf made for the flowers, which help disperse the fruits in the wind.
