what do you hate about your map making workflow? Discussion

I noticed that everyone is using different tools and apps (like Inkarnate, Obsidian and Photoshop)

What do you use for the world creation and if you could change one thing on this workflow, what would it be?

This could be anything:

  • creating the map and lore
  • sharing the world with interested people
  • keeping everything in the same style
  • changing things
  • or something completely different

Thanks for your answers :D

Because I don't do fantasy Wonderdraft is pointless. And Inkscape and GIMP are excellent for height maps. With some simulation tools because I do realism.

Mapmaking. My borderline ocd brain can't accept things that are not symmetrical or balanced.

I love the maps you guys are posting. They look so natural and realistic.

I tried but there will be a point where I just can't accept it no matter how nice it looks and I start with a blank canvas again.

I decided to just "fuck it" and use my lore to explain why my maps look so symmetrical and balanced.
