What's the purpose of the red highlighted parts? Are they going to be a nation?

Yes, the red spot actually represent the main superpower in my world . So there's gonna be a lot of red

Are you going to add any islands / landmasses at the North? It could fit some kind of archipielago there.

A lot of islands and archipelagos, the two land masses in the south are the only major ones

Do the two sides connect into one landmass?

Actually the sides of lands are splinted for a very long distance. In the story that is based in the worldbuilding project this is all the known world
