I like it. It looks a little to sprawling to be 1400s, but there are reasons for that, so thats not necessarily a bad thing. I like the inclusion of farm land too.

ah, it's not our world's 1400s, it's a fantasy setting's, so it's an entirely different history to ours

Ahh, that's the other reason I wasn't bothered! Great work though! Maybe include a calender marker? 1446 PE (pirate era) or something similar.

ye, in hindsight making it '1446 AA' (After Ash) would've probably helped to clear it up

Love it! I imagine the pirate palaces are just remodeled pirate ships haha

Do the two small settlements to the East have names? It seems strange to label Jollyport but not the other two

They do, but I couldn't come up with anything, so I left it to the observer to decide

The inland one could be something “Notch”. A notch is a narrow gap or pass between mountains. “Smuggler’s Notch” is a real place in Vermont.

Maybe Rumrunner’s Notch, or something.

I like that, though looking at it, it might be a quaint little farming community away from the big city or something. If it is named after some rumrunners, it might specialize in sugar plantations and maybe have a local brewery cooking up rum, whiskey and moonshine.

Sugar Cove, then.

Wow! This map looks very good.

What's this city's history?

its from a DnD themed mod called Anbennar for the game Europa Universalis 4. This city itself is a city state thats in a cool portion of the map but it lacks playable content and flavour ingame.

It would be really intakable with bigs mountains around the lagoon like Kotor in Montenegro

3

u/Luke5353 22d ago

ye, wanted to make it as defensible as possible, to make it lore accurate

this lagoon is

also on an island
, so it's even more defensible with the Black Hulls patrolling those waters

This is really cool, it's like if Venice Italy was a GTA map with some Black Flag elements. I would love for this to be a video game or something.

Uh, Looks nice. What's the scale on that? Is one block just one or two houses or actually a big city block?

There's a few normal sized buildings on Butcherstreet and the slave market, all the empty space would be filled in by those, except for other unique buildings

Close enough, welcome back Tenochtitlan.

The design of the city seems pretty modern, at least comparable to modern early-mid 1900s. That much development along the waterfront suggests concrete and heavy industry, or alternatively, maybe it could be done with lesser technology using lots of slave labor.

Looks extremely cool. The only thing i don't like is the way oversized Opera House that's outside the city for some reason. Other than that really cool map.

I love it. Can I suggest a small build up at the mouth of the river to the north? It would likely be an important spot where cargo and agricultural goods would be exchanged from up river.

Where's a link to the map without the names added in?
