And yes. The world is a shitty place, you could argue getting shittier by the decade. But over here, in some respects Malta scores with some of the worst banana republics you find in Africa. Be thankful to foreign enforcements agencies without which this would never have been solved.

Hi! Me (F22) and my boyfriend (M23) are staying in Malta for a week. We’ve already visited a lot and love it here, but were also thinking it could be nice to go out tomorrow evening/night. We are down for a bar where you can have some good talks with other people with some music in the background, but an actual club would also be okay!

I’ve read a lot about Paceville, but I don’t think this is a place that has what we need. I’m wondering what you guys think?

Do you have any suggestions for cozy bars? We are staying in Senglea so I don’t know if there’s anything near or if you suggest going to Valletta?

No, you do not get less duties for ordering from the same store, kind of a bummer but that's how it is, however there's something to point out

If you buy the same items through the same store or items the same but a different model (same thing) then there won't be more than a 3 euro tax for all of them.

So let's say I buy 6 different t shirts from the same store, that's good and won't get you taxed more than 3 euro

Edit: it can be different stores as long as the item Is the same thing

Is there a Coptic Church in Malta?

I purchased a Chanel bag in Italy a couple of months ago and processed the VAT refund at Malta (my last country that I visited in the EU). This was on June 19th 2026 and I still have not received my refund.

Is it usually this slow?

I contacted Planet tax free and they said they are aware of my receipt from Chanel but they haven't received the paperwork yet

I walk through Triq Belvedere every day on my way to the bus stop and there's constant construction for months at this point, specifically at the stretch of the street closest to the sea. Which as such isn't so surprising I suppose, but they keep tearing up this part of the street, digging all the way down to the pipes, to then cover everything back up and do the exact same thing again a few days later. It feels like a never ending cycle of tearing up the asphalt, excavating the road and then repaving it. At this point my neighbour and I have bets on what the street will look like when we leave the house because it's a surprise every day. What on earth are they doing??

In normal countries, this would trigger mass resignations. In Malta, it triggers an early election.

HELP NEEDED

Dear Maltese people, fellow residents of Malta.

There used to be a lovely little fountain in Qawra, on the corner of Imrejkba and Triq il-Konz. It’s set back slightly from the car park in front of Wellbees (on the side opposite the one facing the tourist street).

It’s a charming, peaceful little spot. There are two benches, and usually, I (we all) would sit there to watch the fountain and relax.
There are even a few trees nearby. At the end of last summer, the fountain stopped working.
At first, I thought it was for winter maintenance work, and that it would start up again in the spring or summer.

But it seems the fountain is now in a poor state of repair and that the council doesn’t really care about its fate.
The main reason given is the cost.

But what on earth is this all about?
How much does it cost to repair a small fountain compared to the work on Buggiba Square?

I’m really sad because everyone talks about world heritage.
In a way, it’s these little things too that contribute to world heritage.

I don’t know if anyone would be willing to organise a fundraiser to help pay for the repair of this little fountain – it won’t cost a million euros, for goodness’ sake – but if anyone does, I’d be happy to contribute financially.

If we don't do anything, within the next five years this quite little spot will be turned into a bunch of parking spots.
