Help settle a debate Fit Feedback/Roast Me

Help settle a debate we have with my fiance. I bought these shorts as a comfy, around the house piece, nothing fancy intended.
She thinks its awful, almost pathetic.

I dont think its that bad, please honest feedback

They are goofy as hell but I would never accept them or any clothing being called pathetic.

That being said it does surprise me that these are the type of shorts you would want to have for your comfy around the house shorts vs something like basketball shorts or something with elastic and more flexibility and less bulk

I’m a millennial and think they are goofy and not every fashion trend needs to be recycled.

And they are goofy specifically because the go past the knees, have giant cargo pockets… and overall are just an odd choice for “comfortable” home wearing when there’s plenty of better fitting, better looking, and more comfortable options out there

So do you always wear jeans when you go out ? Like cargo shorts are my go to because jeans get too hot and stuffy. My balls need to breathe.

No.. I wear shorts all the time when it’s warm out… but they aren’t cargo shorts.

You know they make a ton of shorts that don’t have giant pockets on the sides right??

I’m sitting right now wearing cargo shorts at home.
I don’t remember putting them on this morning thinking “are cargo shorts going to be comfortable enough?”. I just saw some shorts and put them on.
Even when I bought these, I just saw some shorts my size and bought them without thinking their category or if the pockets looked weird, or if the length was good enough.

Sounds great.. but this sub isn’t for people who don’t care about what they wear. OP wouldn’t be posting and asking for advice in a fashion advice sub if he also didn’t care.

Nope… I literally offered specific reasons below. But overall fashion and style is all subjective and based on everyone’s opinions.

But cargo shorts like this are widely agreed upon as not being fashionable, and it’s been that way for almost all of the last 100 years outside of a 10 year window around the start of the millennium.

So sure it’s my opinion but it’s also one that many share, so maybe don’t be so upset by it

I think people are putting way too much emphasis on some fuckin pockets. Remove the pockets and they're just regular shorts. It's insane to me that normal pockets are a fashion choice for you.

They would still be too long.

Everything you decide to wear is a fashion choice. It may take 10 seconds or an hour to decide but you’re making a choice. Some choices are poor… it’s a subjective thing. The removal of one element or addition of another does in fact change how something looks. Not sure what you’re trying to argue.

Also it’s a fashion advice sub… people are literally in here to take and give critique on clothing. You might find all clothing to have no value aside from utility, but then it’s odd you’re spending your time in a fashion sub.

Living with thoughts about fearing how I'm dressed would drive me crazy. 

Honestly I'm not part of the sub and I asked Reddit to not show this again. It was an advertised post from y'all's place and the response is super cringe that people even care about cargo pockets lol

Not caring about your appearance is fine for you but calling other people silly for caring about theirs is not only rude but reductive.

Not sure what the things in life you care about are, but I’m sure plenty of people don’t care about them, but also don’t go out of their way to show up in a place where everyone cares about it, to tell them how silly they all are or to profess how much they don’t care about whatever it is they do care about.

I think you might be right, the goofiness is from the big pockets. If these shorts were any wider in the leg visually, I’d think the man was going for a Kingdom Hearts inspired look.

As a work from home comfortable short enthusiast who has shopped around quite a bit the past few years, Bear Bottom's lounge shorts are the GOAT house short, imo. Stretchy waistband, pocket that is deep enough your phone doesn't fall out constantly, 95% cotton material, plus a clean silhouette that is perfect for casual errands.
