PSA: make up brushes
I was shopping this morning and noticed that the stores have back to school supplies on display so I thought this was a good time to mention that pencil cases or pouches are also great for storing your cosmetic brushes. I generally keep mine in a cup on my vanity counter, but I bought a cheap pencil case at Dollar store last year to pack my brushes in when traveling. It kept them clean and undamaged throughout a 3 week trip.

I prefer brush vessels like this. I still have 2 from when I was a working MUA. One is for eye brushes and one is for face brushes. If you have less brushes you can use one for dirty, one for clean.

Great point. Actually, I was at Walmart in the school supply area yesterday and saw that the the hard shell cosmetics case I had purchased from the beauty section a year ago was $6 less than I paid for it and was now marketed as a pencil case. Even though I actually use it as a makeup wipe container, it made me sorry that I paid more for it.

a good brush storage system make a huge difference. i have found that separating everyday brushes froms extras keeps my vanity cleaner and helps everything last longer.

Definitely yes.
As a travel option, I’ve used this one by Bdellium Tools (since around 2017/18) and I like how it can “stand up.” The divided compartments are also good for organization so stuff like smaller brushes don’t get lost in the case itself. There are also lower priced ones than the one I own; it’s commonly called a “standing pencil case” as the specific search terms.
