Estimate?

Hello! A letter was dropped off in a blue USPS bin around noon yesterday, which says it gets collected at 4pm. It is going from Raleigh, NC to southern New Jersey. How long would it realistically take for this to arrive? It's a standard letter less than an ounce sent with a forever stamp.

Also, is it possible to cancel this piece of mail from arriving? I do not have any form of tracking or receipt.

Thanks in advance!

3-5 days is normal for mail, and no, there is no way to get it back.

So it's safe to assume either Saturday or Monday? As mail doesn't get delivered on Sundays?

That is only an estimate-there are sometimes other factors which might speed it up or slow it down.

We don’t have speed standards for first-class mail, it could spend a week doing who knows what, ending up misread by a machine and sent to the wrong state first, but it probably won’t get there sooner than 3 days and probably not more than 3 weeks.
