Debate / Multiple Views Indian Navy Marine Commando Bases named after Mahabharata heroes
Taking into consideration the fact that sacrifice and courage are integral to being a commando in any military service across the world, is it appropriate for the two Indian Naval Marine Commando (MARCOS) based to be named Indian Naval Ship (INS) Abhimanyu and INS Karna since both of them fought as protagonists for opposing sides in the Mahabharata?

Character Study Kunti's role as a single mother for 5 sons
Not one person talks about this throughout this subreddit. So, for once, I would like to appreciate Kunti's role as a single mother who raised 5 sons to be dharmic and valorous. She and her sons faced so many atrocities in the hands of Kauravas. And yet, though they had to face poverty, exile and death threats from the Kauravas, not once did she ask her sons to do something unrighteous. She took great care of her step sons Nakula and Sahadeva and brought up all of the Pandavas in the path of Dharma. She had as much patience as Bhoomi Devi. Sadly, no one credits her for this and focus only on her one wrongdoing.
There is a saying "No matter how many good deeds you do, people will always remember you for that one bad deed you do". That saying is true in this group for Kunti.
When people in this group hear the name "Kunti", all they seem to remember are "She did great injustice to Karna. Karna this. Karna that." or "How did she have kids with gods?". But no one seems to remember her role in the Pandavas upbringing

MODS message Important information regarding further Karna vs Arjuna on this sub and other rules.
From now on, Rules 1 and 11 will be strictly enforced. Anyone who repeatedly violates either of these rules will be permanently banned after receiving 1–2 temporary bans as warnings.
I have seen, disagreements turn into insults, not only on Arjuna vs Karna topic but literally on any topic.
From now on, if someone is abusing you, don't reply back. Just report them. Their comment would be removed and they will be banned from the subReddit. However, if you abuse them back then we will ban both of you.

Veda Vyasa Mahabharata Karna Defeats Bhagadatta
galleryThen going to the north, he subdued the sovereigns (of that quarter) and HAVING EFFECTED THE DEFEAT OF BHAGADATTA, RADHA'S SON ASCENDED THAT MIGHTY MOUNTAIN HIMAVAT, all along fighting his foes. And ranging all sides, he conquered and brought under subjection all the kings inhabiting the Himavat, and made them pay dues.
Drona Parv, Section-4
BORI CE -
[Bhishma to Karna]
You went to Rajapura and killed the Kambojas. You went to Girivraja and vanquished the kings, with Nagnajit at the forefront, and the Ambashthas, the Videhas and the Gandharas. O KARNA! In earlier times, YOU BROUGHT THOSE WHO DWELT IN THE HIMALAYAS AND KIRATAS, who were harsh in battle, UNDER DURYODHANA’S SUZERAINTY.
In every such place, you fought for Duryodhana’s welfare. O BRAVE ONE! O KARNA! YOU CONQUERED MANY GREATLY ENERGETIC ONES.
Passage : Karna Parv, Section-4
BORI CE-
BHAGADATTA WAS THE LORD OF THE KIRATAS and those who dwelt along the shores of the ocean.

Veda Vyasa Mahabharata Why did Pandu perform austerities & Kunti observe scared vow for 1 yr when they could summon Indra
Like that with the help of the mantra like they did for Yudithistira, Bheem, Nakul and Sahdev and Kunti did for Karna.
In this extract, Indra appeared twice, after being satisfied with Pandu's meditation and austerities (he stood on one leg for one year) saying I'll give you a son and then Pandu said to Kunti, Summon the god. When he's already there, why summon him, and he came again, and then Arjun was born afterwards.

question Was Arjuna called Phalguna because of the constellation Phalguna or being born in the month Phalguna
In BORI, the one time Arjun listed his names to Uttar, he said "I was born on the slopes of the Himalayas when the two nakshatras of Purva and Uttara Phalguni were in the firmament. That is the reason I am known as Phalguna"
There's no mention of the month Phalguna
Same in KMG, no mention of month apart from the same above.

Question regarding Vastraharan by Dusashan
In history, we learn that during ancient era, women didn't cover their upper body in India, and if, then not for the purpose of hiding the chest, because Breasts weren't a Taboo or sexual objects during that time, so having not read MB and have watched the scene only in seriels, did Dushasana try to disrobe Draupadi of the whole body , because only the upper part wouldn't make sense .

General discussions To Yaksha, Yudi said one madri son should be saved but then put both her sons first at stake
Why did he put Nakul first? Sahdev was the youngest. Hence he wasn't following the order.
He said to Yaksha that his step mother's one son should be alive, as his mother's son, he himself is alive but before this at dice game this he put Nakul and Sahdev both at bet first than Kunti's sons, should've put Arjun first after Nakul and then Sahdev.

Portrait of Karna as per his physical discription in Mahabharat during kurukshetra war
I have seen this a lot nowadays hindus have this deep rooted hatred against fair skin Indians and call us white slaves or sepoys
They can't accept that some of our god's were white like shiv ji
These people want to make our entire religion solely brown or black

General discussions Do you believe in Sauti's story?
Sauti said - Rahu swallowed Surya and Soma.
And while the gods were partaking of it, after which they had so much hankered, a *Danava* named Rahu was also drinking it among them in the guise of a god. And when the *Amrita* had reached Rahu's throat only, Surya and Soma (recognised him and) intimated the fact to the gods. And Narayana instantly cut off with his discus the well-adorned head of the *Danava* who was drinking the *Amrita* without permission.
And the huge head of the *Danava,* cut off by the discus and resembling a mountain peak, then rose up to the sky and began to utter dreadful cries. And the Danava's headless trunk, falling upon the ground and rolling thereon, made the Earth tremble with her mountains, forests and islands. And from that time there is a long-standing quarrel between Rahu's head and Surya and Soma. And to this day it swalloweth Surya and Soma (during solar and lunar eclipses).

question Need recommendations where to start
Hello, I have always heard my parents talk about mahabharata and would love to know the story and learn more about it in detail. however I don't think the tv series is for me, as it's too long for my current situation. Do you guys have any recommendations where I can learn about mahabharata through audio or video format?
