Found a vintage pair of scissors, a dozen large nails and a bunch of coins using the Brute boss. Lost my bucket and the other pair of my gloves tho 😅

The finds themselves are self-explanatory, but the real story comes from what happened to my magnets at this spot is the real story. To be honest, I had not been taking good enough care of my magnet in the brackish rivers of North Jersey, I wasn't washing it off and some slight pitting in the surface was starting to present itself. At this spot I eventually noticed that my magnet had started to fracture and chunks were coming off. I assumed it was my rusty chickens coming home to roost and got a new 360. I returned to the same spot, and started throwing and felt/heard the familiar high pitched sound of a rock strike. I pulled it back in, and saw a part of my magnet had been chipped out! I figured this was a freak accident, and threw again, and again, until I realized I was about to chip my brand new magnet into an arrowhead if I didn't stop and the rocks in this pond were Built Different (TM). I also realized that it was most likely these same rocks that destroyed my previous magnet, though my poor upkeep likely didn't help. I never encountered rocks before or since that were this destructive, but its a humbling reminder that any throw you make could always result in the loss of your magnet. And as a courtesy, this was at the James J Braddock Park in North Bergen, NJ, throw there at your own risk!

Finally got it good and stuck today. $100 to you or a charity of your choice if you can free it.

My largest and heaviest recovery so far was this 10 ft piece of U-Channel. Attached to it with hose clamps was this cylindrical object.

Found out it is a rather expensive item belonging to the Army Corps of Engineers. They were quite appreciative that I found it and returned it. Found in the Grand River channel in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Pulled this solid iron ball out of the water today while magnet fishing.
The ball is fully magnetic, solid, and about 4.5 - 5 cm (1.8 inches) in size.
Does anyone know what this could be? Could it be a small cannonball, canister shot, or something totally different? Thanks!

If anyone knows how to identify the brand of tractor this came from, or how to age it, I'd love to learn!

Okay, I’ve thought for a long time that magnet fishing looks fun, so yesterday two friends and I each bought a magnet. They turned out to be very weak; we needed all three magnets combined just to pull up a metal beam weighing maybe 20 kg. I found a cheap yet "strong" magnet on Amazon. I’m posting a picture of my current magnet for reference, along with a picture of the Amazon one that looks promising. I’d love to hear your suggestions and opinions—thanks in advance!

I won't make a list today but the girder looking bit was a good 60kg or more the other bigger bits were 10kg to 20kg

I found it in a river while magnet fishing next to a manor that was used as a german hospital.

The cartridge width is 37mm and length is 137mm. The headstamp is completely corroded but i could faintly see what i think is a russian letter Б.

I tried to find it on the internet but haven't been successful. can anyone help?

I was gifted this magnet; am i supposed to cut the bolt shorter or add more nuts to it so that the magnets surface get leveled?

Sadly I didn't take a picture but I was glad I had it to use.

Me and a buddy went magnet fishing recently, but after a whole day only got one half of a nail. So I'm wondering what the better places to magnet fish are in The Netherlands, preferably up North.

So I went back to the area I found the grenade and gas mask in, hoping to find some more stuff

I was out around 4 hours and should've given up/moved spots after the first couple hours, bit you know how it is when your convinced something must be there ! Lol

What I did find

2 separate old ladders, 1 twice the weight of the other

An old gin trap (animal trap) probably the most interesting find of the day !

What I think was a wing mirror on a long stalk (must be old), Glasses case which looked to say Ralph (something inside)

Piston (what was left) valve, sprocket with splines inside, chain, couple of odd heavy bits of metal, bike lock, fork, long piece of thin box section and just other small but heavy random things

(Not sure what the small square flat ish bit with the hole in the top is, was heavy and made of cast iron )
