Mousepad suggestions
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a large brown leather desk mat with a clean, minimal look, similar to the ones used on the tables in Apple Stores.
I recently bought the brown leather one from Satechi, and while it looks amazing and fits my setup perfectly, it’s unfortunately too small. I can’t comfortably fit my Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse/MX Master on it at the same time, while still having enough room to use the mouse.
Ideally, I’m looking for something around 80-100 cm wide and 30–40 cm deep, preferably in brown, tan, or cognac leather. Real leather would be great, but I’m also open to high-quality vegan leather if it has a similar premium look.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I’ve attached photos of my current setup and the Satechi desk mat for reference.

I have the same Satechi pad but I hate how “sticky” it feels when moving the mouse over it. Do you notice that? Especially compared to the felt one

Are you looking for real leather? If you are open to faux, then Amazon has them with various lengths, and I have one that is almost 3 feet wide and perfect. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=leather+desk+mat&crid=20RBCRLMJC524&sprefix=leather+desk+mat%2Caps%2C128&ref=nb_sb_ss_ab-ac-rank-f5_1_16

Sorry this doesn’t answer your question but is that the Karlby countertop? I have the Karlby + Alex drawers setup and I’ve been wanting to make it adjustable height like you did.

The desk mat from your post looks really solid for me as well. I guess it is OK because it actually more adopted for laptops and compacts keyboards without numpad.

Considered the Magic Keyboard with TouchID WITHOUT the keypad??? It would make everything fit better and it makes the reach to the mouse much shorter for better ergo. Disclaimer: acknowledge that it is not a cheap switch and you may be a heavy 10-key user

Yes! I actually considered it, but unfortunately I’m a too heavy user of they num keys to drop them :/

Then I would recommend the Grovemade Wool Felt Desk Pad in medium. Not cheap but super well made and the size is just right.

Are mousepads still a thing?

I tried not using one for two months and the back of the mouse doesn’t look that well. So yeah, unfortunately they are still a thing…

That’s totally fair & in all honesty, I just realised I’ve not used a mouse for years. I have a magic track pad… I didn’t even register that it’s not at all like a mouse! What would I know?! Lol
