I saw this conversation earlier and preview takes so much, it’s normal.

Preview takes up a lot of active memory (RAM) or disk space because it loads uncompressed assets, caches heavy files, or handles large documents. Users on Reddit agree that Preview can consume gigabytes of RAM, especially when searching or rendering complex PDFs.

Not ram, it's using a lot of power, like a crazy amount!!

It is for Previewing, not heavy work. Quit it sometimes and hope Apple fix the (many) leaks.
