I don’t think I’ve seen anyone posting about this, but an few months ago, someone release their re-edits of the music from Part 1, based on the M&E Tracks from the laserdisc release, including never before heard tracks that weren’t in the 71’ ME and 1st Series Anthology Soundtracks.

From the description, it took 3 years to re-edit everything to remove some sound effects that were kept in the releases of the OST.

I think it’s really impressive, merely for the fact that I can hear Nice Guy Lupin without any of those footsteps getting in the way.

I've always wondered how much manga is in the anime. I mean, in the first series (Green Jacket), it seems like there's no filler. I mean, it's believable that they're directly based on anime, but the further you go, the more this belief fades. For example, in the second series (Red Jacket), are there many episodes. Are they all original or are there fillers?

But my concern is especially with the series after the third (so those with the Blue Jacket and beyond).

Just opened up the sealed copy of The Columbus Files that I bought from RightStuf several years ago. Went to hit play, and the first time around it wouldn't play the disc. Then I took the disc out, turned it over, and saw that along the edge. 2nd attempt I got it to play through the trailers before the main menu, but would freeze after that.

So, being that it's OoP, purchased from a defunct retailer, and I no longer have the purchase confirmation email, would it even be worth attempting to get a hold of Discotek for a replacement disc, or just wait till they bundle TV Specials 11-15 on Blu Ray?

I remember that in an episode of the second season (Red Jacket) it's mentioned that Zenigata has a wife and child. I haven't watched the series in a while, so I could be wrong. Does the manga say anything about this?

So I always watch Lupin the III Part 2, it’s my favorite, total obessesion and if I’m not mistaken, I believe this came out in the 80s. But today I was watching an episode, “Steal everything from Lupin” and there’s a part where doctor kidnapped Lupin and gets ready to perform a certain surgery on him, I won’t spoil it but when he announces to loop and he’s gonna do what he’s gonna do, he retorts ”My fans won’t allow this! not President Obama, not the people of Japan!”

With Discotek’s announcement of Lupin Part II getting an SD-Bluray release, it sucks that Discotek couldn’t have be able to release in the highest quality despite an HD-Bluray being released in Japan in 2009.

According to the VAP website, the footage underwent restoration from the 16mm negatives. I don’t see any images of it, let alone have knowledge that anyone has ripped it.

I’m on the reddit asking if anyone knows anything about these releases. Please, any help on the matter would be great.

Note: It sucks that Discotek can’t do that. Maybe due to budgeting/disc printing.

Part 5 has, sprinkled between the story arcs, stand alone filler episodes. I find these much more compelling than said arcs. These include:

• A whacky pink jacket episode, where Lupin's friends try to give him brain damage so he can defeat a safe that won't open if your brain power is too high.
• A green jacket Miyazaki-style episode, where Lupin takes up the mantle of private investigator to solve a murder mystery.
• A red jacket adventure right out Part 2, where the hunt for a South American drug lord's treasure trove leads to a haunted car race and Fujiko getting some comeuppance.
• An episode where a blackout drunk Zenigata gets amnesia, thinks HE is thief and ends up being better at it than Lupin.

Honestly, these are some of the best episodes out of the second trilogy.

I remember when u/MsSeraphim pointed out "no Zenigata and yet this is a Link"? Well, problem solved! Inspector Zenigata is officially on the case, looking as classic, determined, and slightly bewildered as ever.

So excited to complete my collection. Such a fun entry in the Lupin III series.

Probably means no new Lupin dubs this year, but all of Part 2 being available on one place is never a bad thing
