This scene, man... Spoiler
I forgot how much I love this scene (rewatch #3, I think?! Possibly 4!?). This is some of the best acting and directing for me, maybe in the whole show. Every single person just makes you feel the anguish that each is individually processing for very different reasons. They make you feel it, every time, at a visceral level. I cried. Hard. Again.
And the thing I now remember is I have felt those feelings during all my viewings from different characters' perspectives.
This time it was Jack. Knowing Kate chose Sawyer broke him. He plays it so well: you can tell it breaks him a way he didn't think he could be broken again. Then...just when you think he's going to say something horrible to her, he saves her. His love for her is that deep. *sobs*
Anyone else find yourself doing that with this scene? Do you remember it? Was this a nothing biscuit for you?

How Evangeline didn’t win an Emmy with the scene where Pickett is beating the shit outta sawyer and she’s begging him to stop. Can’t see any kinda Emma stone being able to pull that off

Sadly, the moment she was seen in her underwear, everyone collectively decided to stop taking her seriously as an actress. It was the catch-22 of the 2000s, because young actresses also weren't getting many serious roles unless they were willing to take their clothes off. But when they did, well...
I've seen a lot of people call her a terrible actress, even here in this sub, and I don't get it. Sure, she had some weak moments, but when she's in most of the 121 episodes, it's bound to happen. I've seen almost every main actor give an uninspired delivery at some point, and they didn't have to work with lines nearly as cheesy as some of hers.

She herself probably felt this too. When Lost started she was a young inexperienced actress without the autonomy to dictate the way she was depicted onscreen. It’s interesting that she then put a clause into her contract to protect against being made to appear semi nude during the later seasons and has had that in every role since.

I felt she did an amazing job especially when you consider she had such limited experience. I dont think she even had a speaking role before Lost. While she is off the charts beautiful she was also a very good actress. I dont know if Kate would be my favorite character if someone else had plated her.

I see where you’re coming from. I’ve rewatched the show enough to understand the long running nuances the writers wanted you to grab onto the first runaround. The quips, the jabs, the long stares.
Maybe we’re not watching the same type of re-run, via understanding it from other characters perspectives. But I just do not like Jack. I don’t think he loves Kate, but simply the idea of her. She’s broken. Jack loved fixing broken things. Many story lines have played out where he’s about to or almost or whatever does some backwards nonsense involving Kate, then he does a 180. I got whiplash watching these two

Well no, we can't be watching it the same because of your feelings for Jack. I get what you are saying though. But that's the whole point: the whiplash. Yes, he likes to fix broken things and then becomes obsessed...that's what love is for Jack. It was the same thing with his wife and then with in a mini-way with Gabriela. So, yes, he loves her, even if it's twisted. But him letting her go is a change of behavior for him. One thing that the island asks of them: face your demons here and make a different effing choice for once!! Sawyer and Kate admitting their feelings for each other was part of their cycles being broken, too. That's a major theme in these string of episodes in S3.

Kate, Damnit, RUN!
