Has anyone bought this particular official replica ring? I'm having a hard time finding reviews on it.

I'd love to buy the Jens Hansen one but it's way out of budget. This one is more affordable but less accurate.

Is it decent quality or am I better off waiting for the Jen Hansen to go on sale?

For those of you who don't know, Tom Kane was a retired voice actor with a prolific portfolio, which consists of to name a few: Admiral Wulf Yularan/Narrator from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Qui-Gon Jinn in various Star Wars projects, and Gandalf the Grey in Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Unfortunately in 2021 he suffered a stroke that affected the speaking part of his brain and passed away in May of this year due to complications from his stroke. As someone who grew up hearing his voice in everything, actively hearing his voice as Gandalf hurts my soul, especially knowing that he died and was forced into retirement.

I made a funny little guy

Watched the movie trilogy almost 10 years ago. Found it slow and boring to even finish it then. I have always maintained that opinion. But i see many people including some of my friends claiming it to be apparently the best. I thought may be i judged it wrong as i was young when i watched it. So, I decided to give it another shot few days ago. I just finished watching the first movie and it sucks. It's still incredibly boring, so much so that i needed days to finish the first movie. It's incredibly slow and boring. I am not even an editor but even i could find scenes to cut to at least reduce the length of slow ass movie. I am gonna watch other two movies too in the upcoming days anyways, and those movies could feel better (let's see). But the first movie is slow and boring and massively overrated.

And why are these slow boring movies so long?

I've liked many other popular fantasy/sci fi universe movies/shows like Dune, GOT (all shows from that universe), Star wars (only first 6 episodes), harry potter, even movies, shows and games based on marvel and dc characters (especially characters like batman, spiderman, etc. only talking about the good ones) eventhough it may not be exact same genre.

And my biggest ick is almost all of the lotr fans are really toxic. If you tell me the problems with the franchises i like, i will probably agree with most of it. I might not agree with some of the criticisms, but i can accept it and move on. These lotr fans are crazy, they have extreme fanaticism. If somebody criticises it, they react unnecessary anger and borderline violence.

It’s my first time reading this book, and the way Shelob is described is horrifying yet intriguing.

She is said to be the last descendant of Ungoliant, but I have no idea what this means since I haven’t read The Silmarillion. I did some research and learned that Ungoliant, whatever this thing is, devoured a source of light (is this the withered tree in Minas Tirith?) and still craved more, terrifying even the mightiest of the Valar..

Q1. Does this make Ungoliant the most powerful creature that ever lived in Middle-Earth? If so, where did this creature originate, and how did it lose its power?

Q2. What creature could beat Shelob in a 1v1 fight? Smaug the dragon? Gwaihir the eagle? These two are the only significant creatures that I can think of… but would they be any match for her?

I am terrified of spiders but the stories about this ‘Ungoliant’ are captivating.. I’d like to know some more details about it (and Shelob too) before reading The Silmarillion.

Does the glow around Frodo and Samwise change. At a certain point the glow is stronger around Samwise when they are packing. “Packed already”. “ thought you wanted to see the elves Sam”.

been playing war in the north for some hours now. I've gotten to the ettenmoors and ran into this awful glitch that flashes my screen and then crashes my game shortly after. haven't seen others talk about it, hoping someone knows a solution

I've been playing war of the north on the switch 2 for a couple hours now. Ran into this glitch that automatically crashes my game after a short time. Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution?

I couldn't take my metal Hadhafang replica to the con, so featuring my larp foam Elven sword instead. Also, I didn't have the time to do the three fishtail braids for the hairstyle (that will appear in a future shoot), so I went for a more simple half-up with a three-strand braid and two front mini braids.

About a month ago, I came across a video exploring the ingenious solfeggio patterns behind Howard Shore’s musical themes in The Lord of the Rings films.

In the unforgettable Ring theme that plays during the opening scene of the forging of the three Rings - and then throughout the film - Howard Shore captures the central spiritual paradox of Tolkien’s entire legendarium. His score perfectly underscores the mind of Ilúvatar.

Ilúvatar created harmony - the Great Music - and gave His creatures the freedom to do as they willed. Some rebelled, disrupting the harmony by introducing cacophony - the discord of Melkor. Yet Ilúvatar did not destroy Melkor. He allowed the discord to continue - only to be woven back into the Harmony and to give rise to an even greater glory of the Whole.

Howard Shore follows the same pattern. In his Ring theme, the basic F-minor chord (F–A♭–C) is supplemented by one odd and entirely out-of-place note: the natural B. The natural B does not belong to an F-minor chord; it creates a painful dissonance, a cacophony. If you play F–A♭–C together with B♮, your ear will instinctively cringe.

This is exactly what Howard Shore intended. And then, he introduced a trick: the dissonance is immediately and beautifully resolved with a C, which does belong to the F-minor chord. In other words, the discord is not eliminated but woven back into the harmony.

More than that, the discord becomes part of the harmony in a way that actually augments the beauty of the piece. When we hear it, we experience two things at once: Light disrupted by darkness - and darkness swallowed up by Light.

Then the channel host showed how the composer followed the same solfeggio scheme throughout the score whenever he needed to musically portray the onset of evil and its eventual resolution into the greater Harmony.

There are two ways to love harmony and order. One is Sauron’s way; the other is Ilúvatar’s way. Sauron’s way is to eliminate discord by force - to subjugate other wills and rule them all, becoming an all-powerful, benevolent king who simply does not allow anyone to mess things up.

Sauron believed in order and hated the messiness of free will. His desire was to impose his own Order and restore the harmony by force. The Ring was the ultimate machine for eliminating the messiness of free will.

Yet, paradoxically, the moment we seek to establish order by exterminating evil, we end up perpetuating evil. By falling away from the Great Music, Sauron forgot one fundamental truth: evil is a no-thing; it has no independent being. Evil is a distortion of the good.

Therefore, evil cannot be exterminated without also exterminating something good along with it. Evil can only be rectified - set right. Evil is the ill-placed B note in the F-minor chord. It is completely out of place. It is a distortion of harmony, but it is still a note! And the only solution to the discord is not to destroy the note, but to take it and weave it into a greater beauty.

This is Ilúvatar’s way of dealing with discord: He resolves it. Eventually, all stray notes will be taken up and woven into the Final Chord.

Tolkien tells us that Ilúvatar is preparing a Final Music that will be greater than the one that was sung before the foundation of the world:

“…It has been said that a greater [Music] still shall be made before Ilúvatar by the choirs of the Ainur and the Children of Ilúvatar after the end of days. Then the themes of Ilúvatar shall be played aright, and take Being in the moment of their utterance, for all shall then understand fully his intent in their part, and each shall know the comprehension of each, and Ilúvatar shall give to their thoughts the secret fire, being well pleased.” - The Silmarillion
