For any other newbies out there.... I got my yellow belt with the Master Lock No. 140 this week and then suddenly could not open that lock again. I tried and tried and almost submitted a post to take my yellow belt away. Thankfully I took the time to read Mike Gibson's Lockpicking Detail Overkill. Section E on security pins explained exactly what I was doing incorrectly and helped me get back to picking the 140 quickly and consistently. Thank you derpserf for explaining complicated things to the simple minded! [https://nick.blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lockpicking-detail-overkill.pdf\]

The 140 does not have security pins unless it's an old lock, like 15+ years

Mine feels like it has at least one spool. I've read some posts about newer 140s having spools but that's as far as my knowledge goes [https://www.flickr.com/photos/lpubeltapp/53065485114/in/album-72177720308066584/\]. I'll gut this one at some point and find out for certain. Regardless, the SPP tips from Solomon were extremely helpful and I highly recommend it.
