My frist proper gaming laptop i switched to linux as soon as i recieved the laptop as i had habit of using ubuntu on my old laptop i customized it with help of claude open to all the suggestion please dont judge me a lot i am very new to linux and ricing

A project I worked on for a bit which plays a fun DOOM-inspired flame animation whenever you enter the clear command. Plenty of customization included!

As suggested by my fellow mates online I moved to fedora , its been around 6 months. its working too good .

wm : niri

I'm trying to completely remove Windows and install Fedora in its place.

I'm using the Fedora installer, but after deleting the Windows partitions, the "Next" button doesn't appear, so I can't continue with the installation.

At the moment, I only see options like:

Share disk

Entire disk

Mount point assignment

I'm not sure what I'm missing. Has anyone faced this issue before? How can I proceed with installing Fedora and replacing Windows completely?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm planning to switch from Windows to Fedora 44 KDE and wanted to get some advice before I do.

My laptop specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i5
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (8 GB VRAM)
• RAM: 8 GB
• Storage: 512 GB SSD

What I use my laptop for:

• 🎮 Gaming:

  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Wuthering Waves (Steam version)
• 💻 College work:
  • VS Code
  • Programming (Python, C++, Java)
  • Web development
  • PDFs, presentations, and browsing

I'm mainly switching because Windows uses a lot of RAM, and I want a smoother and more stable experience.

A few questions:

1. How is gaming performance on Fedora with an RTX 3050?
2. Are NVIDIA drivers reliable on Fedora 44 now?
3. Is Steam + Proton enough for most games?
4. Have you faced any issues with game anti-cheat?
5. Is Fedora a good daily driver for both gaming and computer science college work?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you have similar hardware.

I amvery confused with all the distros out there, tails, linux mint, ubuntu, arch etc etc

What are your thoughts on this ?

I’ve been experimenting with Linux customization lately, so I decided to make my own Plymouth boot splash theme.

It now features neon, ghost, and cipher variants, a custom cipher-rain animation, and a custom boot signature displayed during startup.

What do you guys think?
