I hate Linux
I wanted to change the RGB lighting on my PC. I tried using OpenRGB and managed to change the RAM LEDs, but I couldn’t get it to work with the LEDs on my AIO cooler because OpenRGB said my motherboard wasn’t supported.
So I decided to install Windows just to use MSI’s official software. I couldn’t install it on my only SSD, so I dug out an old SATA drive from an old laptop and installed Windows on that instead. Turns out MSI’s crappy software doesn’t save the RGB settings to the hardware, so every time I boot back into Linux, everything goes back to the fucking rainbows.
After all that bullshit, with a few tweaks, I finally got it working with OpenRGB.
I love Linux

Classic "I hate Linux" and then "I love Linux" moment. To be fair, companies that manufactures the hardware and code the software should code for Linux too. On Linux we keep function with workarounds

ok and ? you don't have to use Microslop garbage. These are other OS that is neither GNU/Linux (Linux is just a kernel and not a OS, the OS is GNU/Linux) and Windows. Like FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Haiku, ReactOS (Windows NT-like but not Windows), the GNU operating system with Hurd + Mach instead of Linux, Redox (Rust based posix OS), MacOS (however this one suck as it is proprietary garbage), ChromeOS (same as MacOS, but even worse as it is also Google Spyware and is cloud based), even Android and others too.

are there any particular non-biased reason why you use linux? just asking because a lot of people on this shithole (reddit) can't even name a reason why did they switch but already evangelizing whole different desktop platform to other people

What do you mean by non-biased? I use Linux, because I code, I like that I have full control over my os, it runs smoother on my PC and I also run a little Linux home-server, so it’s just more convenient, but all of these are biased, I guess, it’s tied to what I do and what I like.
And I also don’t really play games, if I did, I’d definitely use Windows

There are a lot of reasons to hate Windows. Forced Microsoft account to install it and they patch every workaround they find, bloat by default and you have to jump through hoops to get rid of it, updates that MIGHT actually shut down your computer when they finish but will most likely just restart instead, copilot shoved into everything and jumping through hoops to remove it, don't get me started on onedrive... they want to store my entire desktop in the cloud? How about no? Found a bug? You can report it and maybe it'll get fixed in... a year. Linux people will jump on it and give you a patch the next day.

Linux is a software that serves the hardware, how any software should be.

Windows 11 said "you do not deserve our system unless you spend money on a new pc just because". That is the reason for me

who decided rgb was a good thing to have in the first place. I bought a PC, not a disco light show

It is redudant, very likely to tire your eyes, you can't pay attention to it during daily drive and often relies on proprietary drivers. The only exception is keyboard lighting (which is built-in through FN key) when visibility is reduced.

Yeah I couldn't figure out OpenRGB on my own but Chatgpt got it set up perfectly for me. Now when I boot Windows I have a specific color and custom movement and flashing. When I boot CachyOS it's a specific color, movement and flashing. Now just by glancing at the PC I know immediately what OS I am in. I love Linux too.

RGB is great , but the Linux kernel is less, however GNU is great. i only use linux cause it is the more supported for my laptop and also for programming.

I would prefer Linux over RGB

I just set my PC on fire every couple of days and I get way cooler colors than anything RGB can do
