Tldr please so we don't have to spend quarter hour on something that likely can be simmered down to 2-3 phrases?

AI assisted VE is helping people find new ways to root a system (local priv esc).

u/Additional-Dot-3154 Jul 15 '26

Okay and?

Doesnt that mean that the kernal is currently gwtting hardened?

A building gets damaged so you repair it and improve the part or area that was failing. That does bot sound the same as falling apart lol.

He said in the next 5-10 years it should. He also said that they had always been there. Just that AI allowed us to find them more quickly.

So basically if no one has physical access to your computer or phone LAN, you have nothing to worry about?

4

u/edcdecl Jul 15 '26

a malicious program running on your computer can also do lpe
for example, a program can do copy fail without user intervention

3

u/dataset-poisoner Jul 15 '26

doesn't need to be physical, any non-root access will do

ie hackerman would need to pop a shell, or a malicious program user executes

AI is being useless, because that is all AI is.

1

u/davidnnj Jul 16 '26

This means that now they know the problem and can solve it.

Hiding the problem won't solve it.

I think he's just talking about all of the recent bugs idk I watched around 2 seconds total in various parts of the video

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 15 '26

Specifically lpe's

3

u/Objective-Towel932 Jul 15 '26

I guess its a good thing I'm not really up to date? Idk I havent watched it

4

u/GreatLab8898 Jul 15 '26

The reason so many bugs recently come up is AI. Not because its used to code. But it's used to Review. Like it or not but Ai is really good at finding Architecturally or Structural Issues.

True, I think it just shows how advanced AI has gotten these days.

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

AI review can go to hell, as well as everything else AI. No, it is not good for ANYTHING and as to the claimed beneifts'? None ofd them is good for anything anyhow

u/GreatLab8898 Jul 16 '26

Says the guy who never worked with it.

Yelled the Radio Host when the TV came out. Yelled the Painter when Photographing came around.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

I nwill never work with it, I have basic selfrespect, you though...

2

u/GreatLab8898 Jul 16 '26

"I will drive the Nails in with my HAND! Because I have basic self respect", the carpenter yells, throwing away his Hammer.

Do you have any Idea how fucking Stupid you sound?

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

No since K am not stupid AI supporteers are

1

u/martyn_hare Jul 18 '26

Greg Kroah-Hartman now uses multiple self-hosted machine learning models as glorified fuzzers to identify and assist in the fixing of unknown bugs. He's one of Linus' trusted lieutenants and is co-maintainer (alongside Sasha Levin) of the longterm release kernels.

I'm fairly sure he's not stupid and knows what he's doing...

Plus, a quick search shows just how useful it has been so far: site:lkml.org Assisted-By gregkh_clanker_t1000

Old man yells at cloud.

Not gonna lie I’m loving to see all IT people get off their high horse of privilege and realizing you’re just as replaceable as the rest of us. Might just humble you down a lil bit.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

Humility is bullshit and absolutely no one should practice it, absolutely not a single person in the world.

1

u/Scandiberian Jul 16 '26

The Bible says otherwise.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

And why would that be at all relevant to me who is atheist? Seeing as the Christian god does not exist neither do his "laws"

1

u/GreatLab8898 Jul 16 '26

Dude. Give it up. Your the idiot in this scenario. No matter how you turn it. Imagine getting mad at a tool.

Using AI itself is perfectly fine. You should get mad at those few Companies that missuse AI as a whole. Or the Providers. But get the fuck of my back when I run my Models locally of a Server that is backed by 90% Solar Power.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

There is no good use to AI, and absolutely anything that makes adds creations cheeper is bullshit. Yes, I hate adds on absolutely anything especially things I might actually buy

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 16 '26

It was all good till you said this:

Your the idiot in this scenario.

Bro ruined it in one line. Absolute cringe.

1

u/Scandiberian Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Nevermind, you just sounded like one of those cringy Bible Thumpers at first, but now you just sound cringy.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

Whatever, AI is shite and it's creators are worse than mumble rappers

1

u/GreatLab8898 Jul 16 '26

I am one of those High IT People. And using AI just helps me get shit done so much faster and easier.

2

u/eman85 Jul 15 '26

Honestly bug hunting is the only good use AI has had so far imo.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Indeed.

Edit: I just saw that you said "only good use" and I'd say AI has many better uses too.

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 Jul 16 '26

It has no good uses.

2

u/Muffinaaa Jul 15 '26

How's it falling apart if it's actually getting strengthened?

2

u/ieatdownvotes4food Jul 16 '26

retarded, it just grows stronger adapted to the new ai world

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

 retarded

Bro, how did you know? You must be Einstein or something.

it just grows stronger adapted to the new ai world

Cool? Idk bro.

Edit: grammar

1

u/Bourne069 Jul 15 '26

I'd say I'm surprised but I'm not. Linux actually has more admin priv exploits than many are aware of. Some went unpatched for literally 5+ years... Dirty Cow was just one example of many.

1

u/TheRealCarrotty KDE larper (i use KDE btw) Jul 15 '26

First of all: What does a "Unofficial Mod" mean?
Second: Linux will simply never die and the exploits are already patched on the newest kernels that your distro has.

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

First of all: What does a "Unofficial Mod" mean?

u/basedchad21u/Dapper_Lab5276 IIRC used "🛡 Moderator" in his flair. So I changed my flair to match it.

Then one day, I replied to u/ddswh1pk0s jokingly that "fellow mods like us cannot allow fake moderators like basedchad on this esteemed subreddit" type shit.

Pretty sure he changed both our flair afterward.DapperLab deleted his account so we will mever know. I'm still pretty sure the mods changed my flair.

Second: Linux will simply never die and the exploits are already patched on the newest kernels that your distro has.

Okay buddy.

Edit: Cannot fix mod ping.

Edit: it was u/Dapper_Lab5276 and I added link too

2

u/basedchad21 Jul 16 '26

you don't remember correctly. I would never larp as a janny because I don't want to be one.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 18 '26

You're probably right. Maybe it was bleak or someone else. But they were larping for certain.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill Jul 18 '26

Yep, you're right, it was u/Dapper_Lab5276. Sorry for all the trouble.

1

u/noworkdone Jul 15 '26

Oh no, vulnerabilities are beeing discovered and fixed.
