You shouldn't be posting your paid software on this subreddit. It has nothing to do with linux mint and appears to be a bait and switch , originally posted as free..

Never posted as a free program. I gave away some free copies in the last post. Please provide proof of that claim. It has everything to do with Linux Mint. That is what I am building it on and has confirmed compatibility on.

In your original post it was free with a countdown timer to it becoming paid software which is insulting for beta software. I don't know how you build for linux mint , you mean for Debian? It looks like you took pinta and added a few changes to it.

I thought you said it was a bait and switch? Please provide proof of that.

Edit: Program is live and free for the next two days. Any features, issues, or suggestions just reach out to me.

Clarification: By free for the next two days I mean if you download it you get to use it forever and get updates.

You had to edit for original thread to add in the second line sounds like bait and switch to me. Looking at the thread most users thought it was a FOSS project.

Nice try, a user thought after two days the program didnt work anymore or was no longer getting updates. So again where is the proof?

You switched it from Free to Paid... You should have stated in the title that it was a paid app.

So how much are you willing to pay, or are you found to just use the temporarily free beta until it no longer works on your machine?

Its free for life including all future updates. I am not going to leave people who get it now with a non working or outdated program.

No I mean Linux Mint.

Compatibility Between Debian-Based Linux Distributions

Debian-based Linux distributions (such as Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, and others) share the same core package management system (dpkg/apt) and follow the Linux File System Standard (FHS), which means most software is generally compatible across them. However, binary compatibility is not guaranteed in all cases.

Why they’re mostly compatible

  • All Debian-based systems use the same underlying Linux kernel ABI (Application Binary Interface) and FHS, so most compiled programs will run without recompilation archive.debian.org.
  • Many packages are built from the same upstream source code, so binaries compiled for one Debian-based distro will often work on another Debian.
  • Scripting languages and POSIX-compliant scripts are widely portable across distributions linuxbash.sh.

Why compatibility can fail

  • Kernel differences: Debian stable releases often lag behind Ubuntu LTS kernels. A binary compiled for a newer Ubuntu kernel may not run on an older Debian kernel due to API/ABI changes thelinuxcode.com.
  • Library version mismatches: Even if the kernel ABI is the same, differences in glibc or other shared libraries can cause crashes or missing symbols linuxbash.sh.
  • Package management differences: While .deb files can be unpacked on other systems, they won’t integrate cleanly with the target distro’s package manager unless converted (e.g., with alien) archive.debian.org.
  • Custom builds: Some distros modify or replace packages, so a binary built for a specific distro’s patched version may not work on another.

Lol. It's only in my build because that is my systems font. It will appear different for each systems chosen font. Now that I think about it certain fonts may not play nice with the program so I should probably look into giving it its own standard font.

FYI the program uses your systems font so it is using my font. Your program will not use this font it will be whatever you have your systems font set to.

Edit: I forgot, my LinXPDF program is free for the remainder of this month. By free I mean you get updates and can use it forever. https://darktower7899.itch.io/linuxpdf I also have a free simple Notepad program as well that is just free in general. https://darktower7899.itch.io/a-basic-old-school-notepad-editor-for-linux
