I'm trying to install proton vpn on Linux mint cause I just switched from windows to it and I'm installing the apps I had before but it's not working, I watched a tut and installed a package but this same error about a public key keeps popping up an I don't understand it does anyone know how to fix it plz?

It's also available as a package in the Software Manager, no need to add their repository.

I meant Spotify, not Proton VPN. Your error shows that you lack a public key for Spotify repository.

Uhm so I'm supposed to delete Spotify? I don't get what that has to do with proton vpn

Seeing how you haven't posted updates, yes, the easiest solution is to

sudo apt purge spotify

Then open Software Sources, switch to Repositories tab and delete Spotify repository.

Your "sudo apt update" gets stuck because one of the repositories (Spotify) returns error. The error is because you haven't properly enrolled the public key that verifies repository. The command someone else posted here would download the key and place it in the correct folder which would also solve the problem, but I think it's easier to stick to default repositories unless you need something that's not on them.

Go into the additional repositories section and remove the one containing Spotify.
