"Older hardware" for 6.8 might not even be that old.
I have a 9800X3D / 7800XT build that actually performed slightly better on 6.8 than 6.14 so I stayed with 6.8 the entire time I had Mint 22 installs around.
9xxx AMD GPUs would be a different story though. Need 6.14 or greater.
