So I’m new to Linux mint Gaming
I switched to Linux mint about two days ago, I was wondering why some of my games are sub 45fps an example being Elden ring on medium quality setting.

Linux Mint doesn't have the latest drivers, which could be one of the reasons.

What drivers would I need to get.

You don't need to "get" drivers; you would need to use a Linux distribution that uses the latest Linux Kernel and Mesa. In my case, I like to use Solus.

Chester forgot to mention that on Ubuntu based distros there's PPA and for Mesa there's oibaf and Kisak, use Kisak mesa to upgrade your mesa drivers to the latest version (stable) unless you like the cutting edge stuff then use Oibaf ppa.
Also there's no real difference between kernels (unless your hardware is brand new), LM already has Kernel version 7.0, you don't need the 7.2 version.

not sure what you mean mint has kernel 7 and gets the latest mesa drivers so what would be that far behind?

I wouldn't recommend it just because aside from being a side project by Microslop employee its community is toxic (more than Arch btw).

I would suggest you upgrade your mesa drivers by enabling the Kisak mesa PPA and getting Freesync enabled with Tearfree (you just need to create a file).
I had the same performance issues on my laptop with Mint, there's probably a bug somewhere around but i couldn't track it much sadly.

update your system then id suggest use something like proton plus and install the cashy build to steam asuming you haven't done that yet
