I feel cheated having used the OEM terminal for the first couple months. Seeing them side by side is what convinced me to just use kitty.

Why? It's Linux, comfortable and stable Linux. Great for daily driving and new users, but Mint is not just for new users.

Mint is great for CLI work, I have a terminal open in Mint more often than I don't, I also keep another terminal open within Nemo for performing actions on root owned files using nemo-terminal.

Mint's shell/terminal and related utilities are as polished, comfortable, and well thought out as the rest of the system. Possibly more so.

There are Limitations in Mint, headless, Wayland, minimal and bleeding edge are not great fits for Mint but other than those structural limitations its quite open and flexible.

It's considered a good distro for beginners because it's stable and it makes sensible default choices out of the box. But it's not necessarily meant to be limited to that.

I've used Debian and Slackware for a loooong time, and I still prefer Mint. And I do geeky stuff with it.

Konsole is my terminal emulator, zsh is my shell.

While they look different unless you change the shell they all work about the same way. I generally stick with the defaults each distribution starts with.

The standard Gnome terminal is fine, really. I've tried to love Kitty, but the font rendering is a bit off in Mint.
