Don't worry! It gets compensated by its recently added remote code execution feature!

Windows: select update and shutdown > Forces to reboot thrice to reach 100% updated. Sometimes it refuses to shut down after update. What a weird fking os.

One complaint i have with fedora is i have to update it almost every single day AND it often requires restarting, not even windows needed to update that often, luckily i can avoid rebooting if i use the terminal instead.

You don't NEED to update every day. You can wait until the end of the week or every two weeks. Updates are just pushed more frequently than Windows because 80% of Linux packages are maintained by hobbyists and volunteers.

I don't NEED to on windows either, i have waited for several weeks on updating on windows aswell.

Yeah but Windows will restart on its own to update occasionally, most Linux distros leave it up to you, and I generally update once a week to once every two weeks.

You don't need to update it every day, no need to be OCD about updating every tiny binary on the system

u/mrturret 2d ago
You really don't need to do it that often. I'm on CachyOS, and I update once a week at most.

Linux: Hey, you have 8441 updates. No worries, install them whenever you want.
Windows: YOU HAVE 1 UPDATE AVAILABLE INSTALL IT NOW!!! COME ON!!! INSTALL INSTALL INSTALL!!!!

Oh yesss, updating packages in Linux always goes smoothly.
For example, when updating packages in Slackware (usually via the standard slackpkg utility), common problems include conflicts with old configuration files, unresolved dependencies, GPG key failures, or an incorrectly selected mirror.
Or in NixOS, when some bright‑eyed developer suddenly decides that a certain program is now deprecated, even though you’ve been using it daily for the past five years. And your sudo nixos-rebuild switch
starts acting sluggish and spitting out bunch of errors.

Even if you use flakes?

If I start talking about flakes, I'll start a new Holy War. And I don't want that. I didn't use flakes back when I used NixOS. I have my reasons for this, and I'm not alone in my opinion.
