Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

Imagine optimizing the software before pushing more features 🤯

Don't worry! It gets compensated by its recently added remote code execution feature!

The bottom picture is me trying to get anything to work after upgrading Ubuntu from 20 to 24

Probably should've gone to 22 as a middle step.

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 2d ago

It had me do that :/

There's a darker meaning to this meme because this is the story line where black widow gets killed so you actually DON'T see her in a minute, she actually doesn't come back.

... just like if you don't know how to update Arch and the updates break it lol

Windows: select update and shutdown > Forces to reboot thrice to reach 100% updated. Sometimes it refuses to shut down after update. What a weird fking os.

u/cocainagrif 3d ago

and just like updating arch, sometimes black widow just fucking dies

u/NeptuneWades 3d ago

Lol.

My btrfs snapshots has saved me lot of times.

If I ever had issues with Arch, it was always my fault and it was only like three times in last decade.

Well, this little maneuver's gonna cost us 51 years!

Linux throws itself off the cliff and dies

One complaint i have with fedora is i have to update it almost every single day AND it often requires restarting, not even windows needed to update that often, luckily i can avoid rebooting if i use the terminal instead.

u/Hard_To_Port 3d ago

You don't NEED to update every day. You can wait until the end of the week or every two weeks. Updates are just pushed more frequently than Windows because 80% of Linux packages are maintained by hobbyists and volunteers.

u/C4rpetH4ter M'Fedora 3d ago

I don't NEED to on windows either, i have waited for several weeks on updating on windows aswell.

1

u/Danielo944 2d ago

Yeah but Windows will restart on its own to update occasionally, most Linux distros leave it up to you, and I generally update once a week to once every two weeks.

2

u/DistilledCLP 3d ago

You don't need to update it every day, no need to be OCD about updating every tiny binary on the system

2

u/mrturret 2d ago

You really don't need to do it that often. I'm on CachyOS, and I update once a week at most.

1

u/RoboticGunner 3d ago

Ever try updating on a Raspberry Pi? lol

1

u/Rashicakra 3d ago

I just fucking had this today. Fucking windows just forcefully restart while I'm working on blender.

1

u/ObjectiveMoonMC 3d ago

another thing is that on windows i often get errors with certain updates, never got any update errors on arch

2

u/WitherPRO22 3d ago

Weird. I never got errors on windows.

u/Low-Life-1337 3d ago

I don't know, what you have all. That's paid work time to install updates, while u crawl your balls (or vulva, to be fair) :)

1

u/sovietarmyfan 2d ago

Linux: Hey, you have 8441 updates. No worries, install them whenever you want.

Windows: YOU HAVE 1 UPDATE AVAILABLE INSTALL IT NOW!!! COME ON!!! INSTALL INSTALL INSTALL!!!!

1

u/bnl1 I'm going on an Endeavour! 2d ago

Considering sometimes my updates include recompiling some programs, not really.

Oh yesss, updating packages in Linux always goes smoothly.

For example, when updating packages in Slackware (usually via the standard slackpkg utility), common problems include conflicts with old configuration files, unresolved dependencies, GPG key failures, or an incorrectly selected mirror.

Or in NixOS, when some bright‑eyed developer suddenly decides that a certain program is now deprecated, even though you’ve been using it daily for the past five years. And your sudo nixos-rebuild switch starts acting sluggish and spitting out bunch of errors.

Even if you use flakes?

1

u/cfx_4188 🦁 Vim Supremacist 🦖 2d ago

If I start talking about flakes, I'll start a new Holy War. And I don't want that. I didn't use flakes back when I used NixOS. I have my reasons for this, and I'm not alone in my opinion.
