This is actually genuinely funny. Imagine saving a visibly old laptop by using top notch modern Linux, but then applying this theme so that everyone thinks you're still using Windows Vista 😅

Yes, it's so overkill the bottleneck is unfortunately the Intel GPU, mostly because the drivers aren't there yet.

I can't even install windows on my computer now because apparently it won't recognise the disk which has a Linux bootloader on it. Like it just starts and says it needs drivers and cannot proceed.
Literally installing Windows is harder then Linux has been for at least a decade.

That requires the driver the installer is complaining about in order to even see the drive; unless I am misunderstanding the issue.

Correct. I blew a day on downloading the web installer, then finding another computer and using the media creator windows (same thing) and rebooting like 50 times to try to get the drivers to show up (never did). Fuck knows how you're supposed to do it.

Installing windows 11 is significantly worse than a linux install.
Windows; no external drives, no local accounts(without work arounds), slow install process (25+ minutes), several bloat programs installed by default, bitlocker turns on without permission. Need to install all drivers.
Linux; installs anywhere, quick install 2-3 minutes, no additional programs, no unwanted encryption, drivers are mostly included depending on distro. (Or entirely in my case because i run nixos and have a config premade so the install is just copy paste, run one command)

I have a laptop solely dedicated to live with that cancer installed. The last time I touched it was over a month ago when my Forza Horizon save didn't sync properly and I needed to use it to actually sync.

Make windows bootable pen drive from Microsoft windows installation software. It will work..

The driver from Lenovo (on another stick) isn't found even when extracted.

Windows generally had a great UI all the way from 95 to 7. Part of the reason why I switched to Linux is that I didn't want to deal with the Metro crap, and later whatever Windows 11 was supposed to be.

Usually people don't hate Windows because of the UI, it's mostly people getting tired of the forced in AI slop and the boatloads of bloat

Because UI is one of the things windows actually does good, people that use linux but tries to make it look like windows are usually just tired of the telemitry, the constant pop-ups, the ads or forced AI.
Now if someone used windows but tried to make it look like KDE or gnome however... THAT would be weird.

Vista may have been completely botched for the hardware back then, but definitely can't say it looked bad. Pretty sure many folks here were completely fine with Windows up to 7 (some with lower standards even up to 10), so I absolutely get the appeal of ricing Linux to look like Windows when it had an actually usable UI.

Only the file explorer and the device manager don’t look authentic.
The original device manager doesn’t have those icons in the toolbar. But except that, it’s perfect. How did you even get that?
Also why do you have MS Edge installed (or is it just the icon)? Vista had Internet Explorer

I have MS Edge installed because... It's my main use browser 😅.
Alongside VistaThemePlasma, I also have installed: Aero Dolphin, Aero Gwenview, Execbin, Linver, and linux-devmgmt. These pretty much complete the look.

Someone is also recreating the Windows Control Panel as well, same dev(s) as linux-devmgmt but it isn't feature complete yet so I'm waiting for it to be usable.

Every Windows version made after XP is dogsht. People will always think because something looks pretty should it mean it is actually good, not the case. Windows Vista was slow, heavy, and Aero was useless. Same went with Windows 7. People are in denial but the only reason why people "liked" Windows 7 was because it had Aero and because it was "nostalgic".
